And expressing confidence that he would be given the nod and would be re-elected, he told the media on Wednesday it would be his "last term" in the House of Representatives.

But would he like another term as the Minister of Finance?

00:00At the official short-turning ceremony for the new headquarters of the Elections and
00:04Boundaries Commission, the EBC in St. Clair, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley indicated
00:10he won't be seeing the job through because of his pending retirement from the political
00:15arena.
00:16The EBC is one of the early entities in this country that embraced the use of technology.
00:24This building has taken into account the physical and the non-physical aspects of the use of
00:31technology.
00:32And we look forward to, it may take a year for this construction to be completed.
00:40I would not be here to open it for sure, but maybe some of my colleagues would be.
00:46It's safe to say one of Prime Minister Rowley's colleagues, Finance Minister and Digo Martin
00:50North East MP Colm Inbert, hopes to be there.
00:54He will be appearing before the PNM's Screening Committee on Monday, February 17.
00:59Are you looking forward to another term in terms of, at least another election campaign?
01:04Well, I have some projects to complete and some things to do in my constituency.
01:08I can give you some examples.
01:10I have to upgrade the Maraval Recreation Ground.
01:12It's something I've been wanting to do for the longest while.
01:15And for one reason or another, that project never got off the ground.
01:18Prime Minister Inbert has been the MP for Digo Martin North East for the past 33 years.
01:23On Wednesday, he declared how much longer he intends to represent the constituency once
01:29re-elected.
01:30I want to complete the widening of the entrance into Maraval to Bossier Village.
01:34You see we are widening the bridge over there.
01:37That needs to be completed.
01:39I have some work to do down in the Bagatelle area to do phase two of the sporting complex
01:43and some water supply issues I'd like to resolve before I take my exit.
01:49So this will be my last two.
01:50A question was posed to Minister Inbert about a past statement he made that he thought somebody
01:56in their late 60s should step aside and allow a younger person to come forward.
02:01I would quote the words of the irreplaceable Bas Diopandi, only a dead man cannot change
02:10his mind.
02:11Only a dead man cannot change his mind.
02:13This is what the Finance Minister told the Senate on October 24th of last year.
02:18It has been my honor and privilege.
02:20Oh be quiet Mr. President.
02:23So you have, Minister, you have literal seconds to say the magic words.
02:28It has been my honor and privilege to present this 10th budget and I look forward to presenting
02:34my 11th budget in 2025.
02:38So what would happen if the PNM wins the general election?
02:41I am only screening to be a member of Parliament.
02:45Ministers, ministerial appointments are entirely up to the Prime Minister.
02:50I know my place.
02:51Would you like another term as Finance Minister, sir?
02:53Would you like another term as Finance Minister?
02:55As I said, ministerial appointments are entirely up to the Prime Minister.
02:59Okay?
03:00The finance is a tough job, eh?
03:02It's a tough job.
03:03Prime Minister Rowley, the MP for Degomartin West, National Security Minister Fitzgerald
03:08Hines, the MP for Lavantel West, Labour Minister Stephen McClatchy, the MP for Labré and Lavantel
03:14East Mova MP Adrian Lyons will not be seeking re-election in the 2025 general election.
