Two security guards were targeted and robbed by bandits in Manzanilla, while in a separate incident, a man was relieved of $40,000 in cash.

00:00Bandits in Manzanilla tied up two security guards and stole construction
00:04equipment critical to ongoing road repairs. At approximately 6.40 p.m. on
00:09February 6th, the guards were stationed in a tent near the Manzanilla-Mayaro
00:14Road where road works were underway. According to reports, they were hired by
00:18a contracting company to secure materials and machinery at the site. Two
00:23men wearing dark colored clothing with their face covered approached the guards
00:27from the beach and announced a robbery. One of the men drew a gun and forced the
00:32guards towards the beach. During the ordeal, one guard was kicked in the rib
00:36cage before both were bound. The bandits made off with a Samsung S7 and $365
00:44from one guard while the other lost a cell phone valued at $700 and $500 in
00:50cash. Afterward, the men walked back to the road leaving the guards behind. The
00:55guards managed to free themselves shortly after and the notice the
01:00bandits had taken six rolls of geotech meshing. One guard flagged down a
01:04passing vehicle and made his way to the Manzanilla police post to report the
01:08theft. Police visited the scene collecting evidence and investigations
01:12are ongoing. In other crime news, police are also investigating a robbery at West
01:17Mall where bandits stole nearly $40,000 from a 62-year-old man. Around the 4.30
01:23p.m. on February 6th, the man withdrew $39,495 from Royal Bank at West Mall.
01:30According to reports, he then drove to Long Circular Mall and parked in the
01:35car park. Upon returning to his vehicle, he discovered his right front window had
01:40been smashed and two envelopes containing cash were gone. He reported
01:44the theft to the St. James Police Station. Investigations into both
01:49incidents are continuing. In another crime report, two 14-year-old girls was
01:53allegedly sexually assaulted by close male relatives on February 7th, 2024. In
01:59one incident, police said around the 8.15 a.m. on February 7th, the first girl
02:04arrived at a police station in Chaguanas with her mother where a report was made
02:08that her older brother had sexual intercourse with her. While in another
02:12incident, on the same day, another 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually
02:16assaulted by her father. Police said in both cases, the Children's Authority of
02:21Trinidad and Tobago was informed and requests were made for forensic medical
02:25examinations to be done. Both girls were referred to the Victim and Witness
02:30Support Unit. And in Tobago, four men, Johan Nelson, Ezekiel James, Jabari Ross
02:36and Nkosi Smart have appeared before the Scarborough Magistrate Court for the
02:41Cards supermarket robbery in Lowlands, Tobago. Johan Nelson and Susan Joseph
02:46also face firearm possession charges. Police says a camouflage-clad armed
02:51suspect robbed the supermarket on January 25th before fleeing on foot.
02:55Officers later searched Daniel Trace where a suspect emerged from the bushes.
03:00Another then opened a fire injuring an officer who was treated at the Scarborough
