00:00Congratulations on this.
00:02Do you read reviews, or how do you kind of approach the criticism side?
00:06I try not to read reviews.
00:07I let other people, if there's a good review that I'm like, is there anything that my mind
00:11will fixate on that's bad, and if it's not, I'll read the full review, I'll read snippets
00:15other people send me.
00:16Of course I'm tempted and I sometimes read reviews, and my mind fixates on the one bad
00:20thing.
00:21Reviews aren't for me.
00:22I think, I was actually just talking to him, it's not, what is going to help me be the
00:31best writer and artist in person, and reading reviews, maybe a couple years later reading
00:37reviews, that way I have some distance, but like, I have to hope that I'm surrounding
00:42myself with enough good and smart people in my life that if there's a note to be taken,
00:47they will give me the note in person, not something in a review.
00:53It's just, reviews aren't for the people who made the thing, and I wonder how it feels
00:58to be a reviewer, to be honest.
01:00When you write a scathing review, are you thinking about, I mean, I knock on wood, never
01:04really got a scathing review so far, that I've seen, I probably have, but it's weird.
01:11I just don't.
01:12I get that.
01:13I get that.
01:14It's not to keep myself in the dark, it's that it won't help me.
01:17So when my show was off-Broadway, my director, I think, perused some reviews, and he's like,
01:22okay, I have a couple notes, this is something that came up in a couple reviews, so maybe
01:25we could hone this.
01:26And it was a theater piece, where you could make changes and tweaks, so that's helpful.
01:29But after you've made a thing, to read a review of a thing you can't change, that makes sense.
01:37Anything you're rooting for here tonight, any particular people or shows or movies you
01:41love this year?
01:42I'm currently binging the show Ghosts.
01:46It's wonderful.
01:48I'm always going to be rooting for network shows that have to make 22, 24 episodes, because
01:54I had a network show.
01:56I know how hard it is to write while you're filming, while you're editing, and so I'm
01:59always going to have a little bit of a like, yeah, go for them, because they didn't have
02:04a year to write the first season.
02:06I know how those shows go, and it's running guns.
02:08I'm always going to be rooting for the Ghosts, the Abbott Elementaries of the world, just
02:13because I know how tired everyone is.
02:15Yeah.
02:16And Valentine's Day next week, in light of that, I mean, any romances or rom-coms that
02:21are kind of your favorite, your go-tos?
02:25I'm re-watching The Sound of Music right now with my daughter.
02:29I have to like, I've been saying around my almost five-year-old, like, oh, Christopher
02:34Plummer's eyes.
02:35She doesn't really understand.
02:37She's very, she doesn't know about romance or, you know, she doesn't, so I, I know that
02:47Christopher Plummer kind of hated the filming of Sound of Music, he hated the movie.
02:52He's so hot in that movie, and he and Julie Andrews, their chemistry is like, that's some
02:58like hot fan fiction stuff, I don't know.
03:02I like, I've read like Sound of Music fan fiction, like I, I don't know.
03:07It's like a fun internet wormhole to go down.
03:09I'm a horny nerd.
03:10Do you want me to tell you the story, sister?
03:13Yeah.
03:14Thank you so much, have a nice day.
03:15So, to be topical, yeah, I'm rooting for tonight, the 1965 movie, The Sound of Music.
03:20Hopefully it's nice.
03:22Gen Z, this is my way of...
