Transcript
00:00The Maka is where we kick off as the Reggae got the edge over Soka last evening in Montego
00:16Bay as Sule Makala scored his maiden international goal to hand the Reggae Boys a 1-0 win over
00:22the Soka Warriors in the first of two friendly matches.
00:25TNT will have a chance to even up the series in the second friendly on Sunday in Kingston.
00:31The winner of this rivalry match would edge ahead on victories as both nations were even
00:35on 26 wins from 63 matches.
00:38Jamaica though had the better of the recent encounters with the Soka Warriors winning
00:41once in the last seven meetings.
00:44And the Reggae Boys would manage the first shot on goal.
00:47Chances were few but TNT's best would come off a nice build-up.
00:55They would knock on the door once more before the half as both teams remained deadlocked.
01:07TNT made a couple changes at the restart resulting in their best spell of control.
01:12One of the subs, Brent Sam, would get involved almost immediately.
01:25Jamaica also made a few changes and started to show aggression.
01:32And the aggression would eventually pay off with Sule Makala getting his first goal for
01:36the Reggae Boys.
01:45And some fortune would prevent TNT from conceding a second as TNT surrendered Game 1 of the
01:50rivalry 1-0 giving the Reggae Boys the slight edge with 27 victories.
01:55Terence Clark, TV6 Sport.
01:57TNT coach Dwight York isn't too perturbed by the results as he gave a synopsis of how
02:02the Warriors failed.
02:03I think in terms of controlling the game and in terms of the system and the pattern I thought
02:08we looked very solid at the time and we were taking the sting and we really controlled
02:13you know quite a few number of the minutes of the game and I felt where we were lacking
02:18a little bit is in that cut in third and I think again it's an opportunity for us to
02:23see what they're capable of doing and know where we need to improve and keep building
02:27on the team but overall I'm very very happy I know the results a lot of people are going
02:31to be looking at the results but I'm very happy with the way how things have gone tonight.
02:37One player overlooked for these matches in Jamaica is Jamaica based attacker Kylie Overy
02:42who plays for Jamaican club Cavaliers.
02:44Coach Clark had a message for him and others hoping to get selected.
02:49I suggest that any player who's probably think that they've been overlooked at this point
02:53in time we had you know in the in the three times or the three meetings since we have
02:58met up as a unit we had multiple among the players and still haven't been able to see
03:04all of them they're some of the foreign players that I've not even been able to see so he's
03:09not alone so my message is to every young players out there is to keep the man up this
03:14is on a journey the journey doesn't just happen one night it's going to be a year hopefully
03:20a year journey of trying to reach the World Cup and these guys if you're available and
03:26you're good enough and you continue to do what he's been doing there is only so much
03:31one can be overlooked.
