The section of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway which is under construction from Chaguanas to Couva, is expected to be completed within the next two months.


This from Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan, who says, challenges were experienced in getting the project, which was broken up into two packages, finished on schedule.

00:00In all the attempts at upgrade, the main challenge is working on a site which is already in use.
00:07There is inconvenience experienced and the ever-persistent risk of known and unknown
00:14factors in retarding progress.
00:18In this instance, the weather and fluctuation in working hours have caused delays by the
00:22Ministry, but the Ministry remains steadfast in providing improved infrastructure for the
00:27travelling public.
00:29Accordingly, the Sir Solomon Holtroy Highway project from Chaguanas to Chase Village is
00:32divided into two packages.
00:34Package 1 from Chaguanas to Brentwood and Package 2 from Brentwood to Chase Village.
00:40Roadwork including of median work and surface course asphalt are expected to be completed
00:46by the end of February 2025.
00:49Slope stabilisation and other ancillary roadworks along the acceleration and deceleration ramps
00:54of the Chaguanas overpass are expected to be completed by the end of March 2025.
