00:00Works Minister Rohan Sinanan says more technological advancements are coming for the
00:04transportation sector in the new parliamentary term, including a new camera system and number
00:10plate system. That will help us with national security and we'll be able to identify
00:16through the cameras because the camera system that we're using will also be able to identify
00:23that for us. So that is something that I am sure can rule out within a month of the parliament.
00:32The taxi badge, online taxi badge, although we have improved the system, you still have
00:37to go into the licensing office to renew a taxi badge and we're hoping to have that started
00:44up soon where taxi drivers could renew their badges online just like the regular permits
00:50and the red light and sports speed. Again, it's just the legislative changes. The tender
00:55is out for that and that is ready to go. The PTRC fleet is also set to receive a boost
01:01of 40 electric buses. Cabinet again have approved and I understand the order for the buses.
01:09We should have later on this year the first set of electric buses into Trinidad. I think
01:15the first order is for 40 electric buses and 60 additional buses because there's some terrain
01:21that we have to see how this works, especially in Tobago. So the order is in for the first
01:28set of electric buses later on this year to improve the PTRC fleet and the idea is to take
01:34the entire fleet down the road to electric buses once they are suited for the terrain that
01:41we have.
