At a cost of just over 66 million dollars, the Gran Chemin fishing facility was opened on Friday, one Government Minister warns constituents that voting for the UNC caused a delay in the PNM's vision for Moruga and they should keep this in mind for the upcoming general election.

00:00Grand Chimay has a spanking new fishing facility. Opened on Friday afternoon the
00:06amenities include a boat repair area, a net repair area and berthing for two
00:12Coast Guard vessels. So we have a wave barrier along this leg here we have a
00:20wave barrier there that's on the southern leg and on the northern leg or
00:24the northern section we have we have a boom an armored rock boom and what that
00:34does it renders the the water in here calm and for use by the the boaters here
00:43at all weathers. Mr. George chairs the company overseeing construction. He
00:50promises optimal functionality only after the seaside component is
00:54completed. Today marks the handing over of the land component at a cost of sixty
01:00six point one million dollars. For the trade and industrial minister here's not
01:05just a place to buy and sell fish. It's a space beyond storage but it's a space
01:10that allows for people who have or who can attain particular skills for instance
01:17boat mechanics who can do all of the fix all of the boats and and do repairs
01:23and so on. Painters all of those involved in the fiberglass business as well. With
01:2829 bona fide fishing vessels at Grand Chimay and 56 in Larrafin we estimate
01:36that 170 fisher folk will be using this facility to ply their trade. Beyond the
01:43fisher folk themselves the site will also serve 20 workers including vendors
01:49gear and vessel makers among others who play an equally important role in the
01:56fishing sector. But it would take the works and transport minister to issue
02:00this caution to Moruga constituents benefiting from the PNM government's
02:05vision. That how you vote will determine your future and I say that on the
02:14background that this project was conceptualized under a Patrick Manning
02:22administration a PNM government way back in 2005-2007. This project was supposed
02:30to be started around that time. Unfortunately this project went to sleep
02:38in 2010. You voted a certain way in Moruga Tableland. The Prime Minister took
02:49on political opponents who took offense at the absence of a D in the name Grand
02:55Chimay. At the end of looking for something to criticize us for the best
03:00they could have come up with is the misrepresentation of something saying
03:06that a D is missing. No D is missing. It's a French word. It's called Grand Chimay.
03:13It means the main way. As one who started off as a fisheries officer the Prime
03:19Minister encourages young people to remain invested in agriculture.
