2025 is a critical year for his party and the nation.
That's how the soon to be Prime Minster described this General Election year as the PNM celebrated its 69th anniversary today.
And he had a message for the members of the party .... a message about unity.

00:00Before any awards were handed out during the PNM's 69th Anniversary Celebration at the
00:06Napa in Port of Spain on Saturday, Energy Minister Stuart Young gave special recognition
00:12to a former cabinet colleague whom he called a friend.
00:16A comrade in the movement, someone who is very dear to many of us, if not all of us,
00:24and who tragically passed away 41 days ago with two of her children, our Honourable Lisa
00:35Morris-Julian, Member of Parliament for Dabadie O'Meara and Minister in the Ministry of Education,
00:43and a dear sister to the PNM family.
00:48I pay tribute to her in her untimely passing.
00:52The soon-to-be next Prime Minister, Stuart Young, later spoke about what he identified
00:57as the progress made during the present PNM administration, which was elected into office
01:02in the 2015 and 2020 General Elections.
01:06Our citizens this year will be called upon to choose once again to decide who is the
01:13best choice to take Trinidad and Tobago forward to 2030.
01:19And friends, family, citizens, it is obvious there is only one choice and that is the movement,
01:28the People's National Movement.
01:31Minister Young made no mention of energy-related matters such as the deal for the supply of
01:36natural gas from Venezuela to Trinidad and Tobago, but did make reference to the pending
01:41General Election as the PNM, the opposition UNC and other political parties are screening
01:48nominees to be their candidates for the election.
01:53We are in a critical year.
01:55It is an important year, not only for us as a party, but also for the future of our great
02:04Twin Islands state and country.
02:07The Chairman of the PNM appeared to dispel any concerns of instability in the party presently
02:12in government following the caucus vote of elected PNM MPs, which confirmed he would
02:18be appointed the next Prime Minister after the PNM's political leader Dr Keith Rowley
02:23resigns as the head of the government before the end of his term in office.
02:28So ready yourselves, ready yourselves for the potential battle that is ahead of us.
02:36We have shown time and time again that we as a unified and fortified People's National
02:45Movement marching together as one are unbeatable.
02:51Prime Minister Rowley recently indicated that Minister Young may be the one to call the
02:55date for the 2025 General Election after he is appointed as the next Prime Minister.
