00:00Obviously, if we look at David Moyes' spell at West Ham, it was up and down, and then
00:09they went on and he achieved European places. He then returned a trophy, which was quite
00:14remarkable really. Then when he did get sacked, you felt that he may have got a bit hard done
00:20by. He's clearly a top flight manager with loads of experience. Do you think it was the
00:26correct appointment from the new owners? They've obviously come in and they've laid it out.
00:32We obviously spoke a number of times whether Deitch's future was in the balance or not.
00:37As you mentioned there, it can change in a matter of weeks or a matter of results. Then
00:41Deitch goes and Moyes comes straight in. Do you think they should have looked elsewhere
00:45or do you think they've made the right appointment for now and for the future as well?
00:50I think it's the right appointment on the balance of things. We're evidently in a position
00:57to try to wait and get a target in. We're in the position where they might not be able
01:03to get a target over the line. You think, right, we've got to go back to the drawing
01:05board because results aren't easy. You can get quickly dragged into a relegation battle.
01:10Two home games this week against Aston Villa and Tottenham, which would be big games. You
01:15want someone in charge. You don't want someone like Leighton Baines. It was fine for the
01:19Pittsburgh game in the FA Cup, Leighton Baines seeking charge. You need someone experienced.
01:24You need someone who will give Everton a shot in the arm. David Moyes, his job he did at
01:29West Ham was absolutely magnificent, you have to say. He won the European trophy, had them
01:36challenging for Europe regularly. He's done well in not just the Europa Conference League
01:41but the Europa League as well. He's done well. Look what's happened at West Ham since he
01:47left with Julian Lopetegui. He's obviously lost his job within the first six months of
01:53his tenure, hasn't he? I think he was very under-aced. He's obviously learned a lot since
01:59he left Everton. Probably he doesn't think he could get any unluckier at the time and
02:05he left to take charge of Man Utd, given the circumstances there. His record wasn't that
02:12bad. Yes, there were a couple of Real Sociedad and Sunderland didn't go well to plan for him
02:18but West Ham, in the last few years, he's a proven Premier League manager and he's obviously
02:23learned a lot in the 12 years since he's been away and he'll bring all that experience back
02:30with him. You might see a little bit of a different Moyes at David Moyes 2.0. Supporters
02:36will have a little bit of an issue with his contract length, two and a half years.
02:41Some might have said we'll get him until the end of the season but he probably wouldn't want to
02:46stay until the end of the season. If he wants another job, he wants to have a real good fist
02:52at it and prove to everyone that he's still capable of operating at these levels.
