00:00Hi, my name is Sumail. I'm a reporter for the Lancashire Evening Post and today I'm going to be going to eat at Himalayan Manal
00:08which is a fusion restaurant between Nepalese food, Indian food, Indo-Chinese food, South India, North India.
00:16There's a whole range of options. There's chow mein, biryanis, momos, paneers, curries. I'm really, really excited to try it.
00:24As the highest rated Asian restaurant in Preston, the stakes are really high so I hope it can fulfil it.
00:32When I went into Himalayan Manal, it was quite quiet. There wasn't really a lunchtime rush. It was about 1pm-ish which was just when it had opened.
00:42The management was really, really, really lovely, really friendly. The manager seemed to know everyone in there and it seems to be a family run business which is always really nice to see.
00:53The chicken chilli momo was really nice. The filling was great. There was salad garnishings. I think it was carrots and cucumbers and it was loaded with peppers.
01:05The momo is a sort of dumpling. It's normally quite soft. It's a steamed dumpling but in this case, the exterior was quite hard as if it was a bit stale so it was a bit tough to get through.
01:16The filling was lovely. It was delicious. The flavours were a bit tangy, a bit sweet and a bit spicy although you could choose your spice levels.
01:27Then I had the chicken chow mein which was just chicken, noodles and veg. Again, it was quite nice but it was quite dry. There wasn't a lot of sauce in there.
01:37It was really just dry chicken, dry noodles, dry veg and the chicken itself was a bit tough. It was just a bit difficult to get through but the flavours were still there.
01:48In both dishes, the portions were really, really good. Even for a starter, the momos, there were about six of them so it came in a really good portion which was quite nice.
01:58I couldn't get through all of it so that's always a plus.
