Snow, rain and sleet produced messy travel conditions in South

AccuWeather's Tony Laubach reports on the impact of snow, rain and sleet that are causing messy conditions on the roads and highways in Texas and Oklahoma on Jan. 9-10 during the winter storm.

00:00It has been a sloppy winter storm for

00:02folks in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

00:04As we saw rain so sleet we didn't see any

00:07hail but we certainly saw pretty much

00:09every precipitation type you could

00:10squeeze out of a winter storm across

00:13the Dallas Fort Worth metro area.

00:14As we went Thursday into Friday,

00:16will take you back to Thursday when

00:18the height of the storm came Thursday

00:20morning it looked like it was going

00:22to be an all snow event near whiteout

00:25conditions in some cases heavy snow falling.

00:27But as we got into the afternoon,

00:29snow covered right above the freezing mark.

00:32And that meant a transition from all

00:34snow to a mix of snow and sleet and

00:36sometimes even sleet and a very cold,

00:39miserable rain that miserable rain

00:40continued into the evening hours,

00:42even into the overnight hours for a

00:44lot of the Metroplex as we didn't see

00:47temperatures quite get cold enough

00:48to support an all snow events.

00:50Still, though,

00:51accumulations of snow and sleet

00:53totaled anywhere between 3 inches

00:54and 6 inches on the northern half

00:56north of I-20 in the Dallas Fort

00:58Worth Metroplex South.

00:59It was more of a sleet rain sleet mix,

01:01so fortunately though,

01:02most people taking the warnings seriously.

01:04Rush hour was virtually non existent

01:06Thursday even into Friday morning.

01:08Not a lot of cars on the road.

01:10First thing across the border

01:11into Oklahoma.

01:12Different story.

01:13A lot more snow up this way as the

01:15colder air was much more entrenched

01:17up here in Oklahoma and we will

01:19see that snow come to an end as

01:21we get into the evening hours

01:23tonight and remaining cold.
