A plan to turn a former children’s home on Moor Road in Headingley into 30 flats will go ahead, despite facing dozens of objections from people living nearby.

00:20Leigh City Council has received 89 letters of objection for reasons including traffic

00:25safety and the impact on a conservation area.

00:28Despite this, council officers have recommended that the scheme is approved.

00:32A planning report said the site has been vacant for a significant period of time and the buildings

00:36have been vandalised.

00:38Far Headingley Village Society hoped a more sympathetic scheme can be proposed and accepted

00:43as soon as possible, while Leeds Civic Society has raised concerns over the size of a proposed

00:48car park at the site.

00:50Approval would be subject to conditions including financial contributions towards nearby traffic

00:55schemes and the provision of five affordable homes.
