00:00Kanok Secretary General Brian Lewis is concerned with what's been happening in TNT regarding
00:04crime.
00:05Speaking of which, the rugby fraternity is mourning the recent loss of Cambon Omowale
00:10who was senselessly killed in Laventille.
00:12Omowale was a former Harvard club and national youth level rugby player who according to
00:16Lewis was a positive influence in his community.
00:20And former footballer Terry St. Louis was recently held with guns and ammunition.
00:23Lewis does not want society to lose hope or courage and wants sport to be the vehicle
00:28to mitigate the crime situation.
00:58Good people involved in sport losing their lives to the senseless violence and we are
01:05also seeing allegations of people involved in sport, involved in criminal activity.
01:12Lewis is known to speak out on injustices in sport such as doping, racism, gambling
01:17and money laundering.
01:18As such, he is making a plea to those in charge to try and make things happen.
01:23And it is very important that we do not bury our heads in the sand and the sports fraternity
01:34must do its part.
01:39We have to be innovative, we have to be fearless and we have to figure out a way in sport to
01:47make a different contribution.
01:50It certainly can't be business as usual.
01:53Lewis is a long serving sport leader and currently the Harvard club president.
01:58He is also the immediate past president of the TTOC who promises to play his part for
02:03the betterment of citizens.
02:04I will continue to articulate and advocate for the power of sport and sport as a universal
02:13language to make its contribution to making Trinidad and Tobago a better place and to
02:26use the power of sport and advocate for the use of the power of sport and the universal
02:31language that is sport to make a positive difference in the lives of the youth and young
02:37people.
02:38Lewis will be involved in the Going for Gold Walk on January 19th starting 2am at St Mary's
02:44Junction in Freeport and finishing at Harvard Club in St Clair.
