Welcome to Aachi Ayadurai, a cozy Indian restaurant in Sea Park, Pataling Jaya.
00:06
Step inside and you'll be greeted by a warm, welcoming vibe with vibrant wall paintings, relaxed seating and a homey atmosphere.
00:14
Inspired by family recipes, this eatery brings the legacy of founder Kavi Nandan's late grandmother to life, one plate at a time.
00:24
So this restaurant is named after my maternal grandmother, Aachi Ayadurai.
00:28
My grandmother had a restaurant in Bakersfield, Angkota, you know.
00:32
So somehow she's a very good cook and this was passed down to my mom.
00:37
My mom loved cooking, so why not leverage on that and start a restaurant. That's how we started.
00:42
The star attraction is the banana leaf set.
00:45
It's a feast of six curries and three vegetable dishes, each bursting with homely flavours.
00:52
Refills are free, but that's not all. The offerings add a twist to tradition.
00:57
Avarata has pomegranate with it, kind of a sweet taste.
01:00
And then we have this pineapple pachadi as opposed to what you see, mango pachadi everywhere else.
01:05
And then we have this fried cabbage. Usually you get fried snake gourd, fried bitter gourd stuff.
01:10
And this is fried cabbage. It's very crispy, fine cut cabbage. So you don't get this elsewhere.
01:16
Then there's the shell out.
01:18
A seafood lover's dream. Mud crabs, tiger prawns and mussels,
01:23
tossed in your choice of curry, sambal, kamheung or buttermilk sauce.
01:28
Fresh, flavourful and made for sharing.
01:31
At tea time, try their fluffy brown sugar appam with creamy coconut milk
01:36
or dig into classics like dosai, idli or puri for the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
01:43
After 6pm, go for their nasi minyak, a fragrant dish served with sambal chicken
01:49
that's rich, aromatic and deeply satisfying.
01:52
And if you need one more reason to visit, take it from Malaysia's queen of jazz herself.
01:58
Sheila Majid is our regular customer. She loved it so much and she brought her in-laws.
02:03
I think she brought quite a lot of family here actually.
02:10
