00:00After scoring 446 runs at an average of 89.20 at this year's regional Super 50,
00:06TNT Red Force keeper batsman Amir Jangu has made the West Indies 15-man squad
00:10for the ODI series against Bangladesh. For Jangu, the training never stops with
00:15the Queen's Park Ovals indoor nets being his playground when he's not involved in
00:19a major match. Oh it's amazing, all praise to Allah for giving me the
00:24opportunity and all the success right now. It's an amazing feeling. I think it's
00:29a lot of hard work. Obviously my first-class season was really good as
00:32well so I kind of just wanted to keep that preparation going. I think the
00:36preparation was the key to the success I had this season. I did a lot of work on my
00:41off days especially with our assistant coach Riyad Ahmed really putting a lot of
00:45work with me so yeah I think that just led to the success this season. Having
00:48played with different regional teams it's only obvious that Jangu would be
00:52familiar with the squad members. So did he get any messages from any of them
00:56after making the cut? Yeah definitely I got messages from most of them. Obviously
01:00familiar faces all around. I'm playing with the Liverdale Islands, Casey Carty, Azari
01:04Joseph, really good friends, Brandon King, obviously my captain Philly
01:09Tullivers as well so yeah a lot of familiar faces and obviously I've played against them.
01:13I'm on the same team as them so yeah it should be an easy setup to get into and
01:17can't wait. Jangu got into the sport through his granddad. It was therefore
01:21expected that the family would be ecstatic hearing the news. Obviously
01:24after coming off the phone with coach Sami I just went to my parents straight
01:27away and told them that I got selected. So that was an amazing feeling, a really
01:31lovely moment. Obviously my granddad as well, support all the way to the end so
01:35yeah really good and proud moment for the family. Since this is a stepping
01:38stone for the 27-year-old he is keeping his goals extremely simple. After all
01:43the key is to find a regular place in the team. To be honest it's a long
01:48journey that has been to the top so far so obviously the hardest thing now is to
01:51stay there. Not really have too many goals to say but at the end of the day
01:57if I do get the opportunity I just want to perform to the best of my ability and
02:00find my feet at an international level you know. Jangu is looking forward to
02:04playing under West Indies ODI skipper Shea Hope with whom he has a good
02:07relationship. Vinod Nawani, Thiefs Export.
