Unacceptable.

That's how the Port of Spain South MP Keith Scotland..., who is also a Member of Cabinet with responsibility for the police service....is describing the shooting of four men in the nation's capital last night which resulted in one fatality.

So what measures shall be put in place to ensure the safety of shoppers in the capital this Christmas shopping season?

00:00TV6 News observed that the business of downtown Port of Spain carried on on Saturday following
00:05an act of violence on Friday night when gunmen targeted four men in their 50s, one of whom died.
00:12This video shows the police response to the shooting which occurred in the vicinity
00:16of the popular churches Chicken and Royal Castle fast food outlets on Independence Square. That
00:22part of Trinidad and Tobago's capital is in the Port of Spain South constituency.
00:27On Saturday, TV6 News spoke via telephone with the constituency's MP Keith Scotland,
00:33the minister in the Ministry of National Security with responsibility for policing issues.
00:57The shooting occurred as many people were still in that part of the capital.
01:27A reference to the Christmas shopping season which sees some downtown businesses
01:38opening later than usual.
01:58And Minister Scotland told TV6 News that another layer of security
02:14is to be provided in downtown Port of Spain early next week.
