00:26Zomato has come up with a promising Food Rescue Funda.

00:30Zomato is making a lot of noise for their innovative Food Wastage Solution.

00:35But then, why are the restaurants on the ground level so angry?

00:39Why is there so much commotion?

00:54In order to solve the online food wastage problem, Zomato has introduced a Food Rescue Policy.

01:17When the order is ready and the delivery partner is present,

01:28Reports say that every month, 4 lakh orders of Zomato are cancelled.

01:33Sometimes, due to the size of the portion and the lack of clear content, food wastage occurs.

01:38And sometimes, due to logistical problems, things like tea, ice cream, juice, etc.

01:44When it doesn't reach the customer on time,

01:46then the food is not edible.

01:48And what happens to that?

01:50Waste!

01:51Now, the first problem that arises from cancellation is statistically the most dangerous.

01:58And common too.

02:01Zomato's Food Rescue Policy has a simple idea.

02:04Relist cancelled food orders on the app at a discounted rate

02:08so that the food is not wasted

02:10and the loss of restaurants and delivery partners is minimized.

02:14People are so attracted to this

02:17because they can get someone else's order at almost half the price.

02:21That is, a promise!

02:23In this policy, for 10-15 minutes of initial cancellation,

02:28this order can be available within a radius of 3-4 km.

02:33Zomato says that in this process,

02:36the delivery partner will get his compensation

02:39and the restaurants will also get their share.

02:41And Zomato will not keep any share other than taxes.

02:48Apparently, the restaurant owners are very upset with the Food Rescue Policy.

02:55Zomato claims in its promotions that 99% restaurant owners are happy with this program.

03:08that can spoil their relationship with Zomato.

03:13Restaurants have complained that

03:15implementing this as a policy is a pressure tactic by Zomato.

03:23Whereas, Zomato has clarified that this is an opt-in initiative

03:34Some restaurant owners have called this concept as Greenwashing.

03:52Pranav Rang Tata says that

03:54the biggest fear in the food rescue process is the stale food.

03:58Because of this, the new consumers can give bad reviews to the restaurant.

04:08You see, the consumers who order food from a restaurant,

04:14By implementing this policy,

04:15they will get another option other than their regular restaurant.

04:28This can create unhealthy competition between restaurants.
