00:00I've seen all this TV6 interview, all this Ian Allen interview stating that I
00:06abandoned my children which is not truth. I honestly reached out to this lady
00:13because I trusted her with my children for the second time and I carried them
00:24there. Onisha Nelson says contrary to claims made by the current Guardian of
00:29four of her five children, no conversation was had about the woman
00:33taking custody of the children but rather she was supposed to provide a
00:37temporary guardianship. I was going through some issues where my children
00:44and I were actually homeless. As a mother, a single parent, I didn't want to see my
00:52children at the side of the road. 24 hours after making the now viral video
00:56Miss Nelson tells TV6 that she is working with the authorities to get her
01:33I'm listening with the children's authority. They are helping me, they are running me through the process of
01:42retrieving my children. They are showing me the rules and regulations in which my
01:47children can be released into my care and I am taking that action and going forward.
01:53Miss Nelson is giving the assurance that her situation has improved to the
01:58extent that she can now care for the children. So at this point you would say
02:03able to care for the children properly and everything. At this point I'd be able to take care of the children. I am a little better than before which I could house them and send them to school and it's not because of this media release.
02:18It's why I decided to take them because I have already decided to take them since
02:22two weeks ago. I was just waiting to get stuff organized for them so when they
02:26come to me they'll have everything. Meantime the Children's Authority says it is
02:31working with agencies within the child protection sector to provide the
02:35assistance and support needed for the children who were left by their mother
02:40with a caregiver. The authority says the ultimate goal is the long-term
02:45sustained care of the children. Ranessa Cutting, TV6 News.
