00:40First off the seas are not playing around while conditions are moderate overall
00:44With ways between two and two and a half meters in open waters and just below one meter in sheltered areas
00:51The Met offices hazardous seas alert warns of long-period north-north easterly swells impacting near-shore coastal areas
00:58So what does this mean?
00:59Well, those large breakers can sneak up on you, especially during high tides leading to potentially dangerous situations for sea bathers
01:07You might want to rethink that beach dip this weekend fisher folk mooring boats could be tricky and small craft operators should exercise caution
01:15Coastal visitors saltwater intrusion sand displacement could also make for some messy beach outings
01:21This alert is expected to remain in place through the weekend. So plan accordingly and prioritize your safety
01:27You'd also want to exercise cautions in areas like Blanches, Las Cuevas, Maracas, Paria, Yara, and Tairico
01:37Here's a tide breakdown for you
01:48So now that that's out of the way back to today
01:51It was a bit of a gloomy vibe, wasn't it?
01:53Overcast sky set the mood for most of the country with occasional showers sneaking through along the east-west corridor
02:00As well as central and south trinidad. Despite that temperatures held steady 32 degrees celsius in trinidad and 31 in tobago
02:08Warm, yes miserable. Not really, but it was definitely a day to keep that water bottle filled
02:15Heading into tonight things will stay mostly fair, but don't get too comfy
02:19After midnight scattered showers are still likely to roll through
02:23There is even a medium chance of an isolated thunderstorm popping up here and there
02:27As for temperatures, it'll dip to 24 degrees celsius in trinidad and 25 in tobago
02:32It's cool enough to kick back and relax and hold your blankets close
02:36Tomorrow the skies are planning a little encore expect cloudy periods with on and off showers
02:42Plus that medium chance of thunderstorms lingering throughout the day
02:45Temperature wise both islands will top out at 31 degrees celsius in both islands
02:50But it's that heat index that'll get you making it feel closer to 37
02:54So stay cool stay hydrated and if you're out running errands, maybe park under some shade if you can
