00:00Well, just when I was hoping the weather would let up, there was gloominess again today.
00:04Things got bad a bit fast with a yellow level adverse weather alert being issued.
00:10Josette Devnanan is at hand to tell us exactly what that means and what we can expect.
00:17Well, Urvashi, you may have woken up this morning, saw that gray sky and thought,
00:21no, today's a blanket and Netflix kind of day. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans
00:26because we are officially under a yellow level adverse weather alert. Don't worry,
00:31I've got the breakdown of what that means and how the rest of the day is looking.
00:34So let's just jump straight in. So what's the deal with this yellow alert? Well,
00:39it's a heads up from the Met Office that we are currently dealing with potentially disruptive
00:43weather. It's not as scary as, say, orange or red, but it does mean flooding and landslides
00:48and gusty winds that could show up. So do us all a favor and stay alert. And as we can see here,
00:54the end date for this will be tomorrow at 4 p.m. This weather is all thanks to a trough system
00:59passing through the Caribbean, bringing with it light to moderate showers, some heavier downpours
01:04and a little bit of thunder to keep us on edge. North Trinidad has been the main stage so far,
01:09with places like Grand River River being areas of concern. Tobago, don't feel like you're being
01:14left out. You've been getting your fair share of rain, too. And even though the skies have been
01:19the temps stayed warm at 28 degrees Celsius in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago. Now for tonight,
01:26we'll get a little relief as the showers ease up for now. But don't get too comfortable because
01:32by early morning, the rain and thunder could pick up again. And this round, it might be heavier.
01:37Tonight's lows will be 25 degrees Celsius in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago. Perfect for a cozy
01:43night in. Now, looking at Wednesday, we're in for more cloudy skies and scattered showers
01:48throughout the day. There is also the medium chance of isolated thunderstorms, so don't pack
01:53away the umbrella, rain boots or quite frankly, a boat just yet. By tomorrow night, things should
01:58start to calm down, but a few lingering showers might still pass through. For early birds and
02:04traffic pieces, the sun will rise at 6.06 a.m. in Trinidad and 6.04 in Tobago. Sunset will be
02:10at 5.40 in Trinidad and 5.38 in Tobago. Now for our fishermen and boaters, listen up. Seas are
02:17going to be moderate with waves between 1.5 and 2 meters in open waters and just below a gentler
02:221 meter in some sheltered areas. We're also looking at some long periods as well, so please
02:27take your time out there and safety first. Speaking of the waves, here's a look at our tide times.
02:43Now before I wrap up, I want to introduce something a little bit different. You see,
02:48I can't be everywhere at once, as much as I'd like to. That's why I'm bringing to you a new
02:53segment I'd like to call Eyes on the Skies. This segment is all about you,
02:58so keep those photos coming. We'd love to see the weather from your part of Trinidad and Tobago.
03:07And that's it for today's weather wrap-up. Remember, the yellow level adverse weather
03:11alert means stay prepared, not panicked. Stay safe, stay dry, and I'll catch you
03:15tomorrow for your midweek weather update. Back to you.
