53-year-old man faces court charged over death of Isla Bell

A man has faced court charged with the murder of missing Melbourne teenager Isla Bell. Human remains believed to be those of the 19-year-old were found at a waste management site in the city's south-east last night.

00:00Many in the Melbourne community are today reeling at the allegation that another woman

00:06has allegedly been murdered at the hands of a man.

00:08In this instance, 20-year-old Isla Bell, who's been missing for almost two months.

00:12Now, police say that Isla was 19 when she was last seen leaving her home in Brunswick

00:17on the 4th of October.

00:18The last activity from her phone and bank account was about two days later.

00:22There's little detail about what unfolded in the next six to seven weeks, but yesterday

00:26police executed search warrants at two properties in Melbourne's south east.

00:31Subsequently, they say human remains were later located at a tip in Dandenong, where

00:35I am today, and those have now been confirmed to be Isla Bell's remains.

00:40Now, 53-year-old Marat Garnier from St Kilda has been charged with murder.

00:45He faced court this morning and was remanded in custody.

00:47A 57-year-old man from Hampton has been charged with helping him, and a 67-year-old man from

00:53Mulgrave has been released pending further inquiry.
