00:00So, Lewis Hall has become Newcastle United's newest England representative after making
00:05his debut for the Three Lions during their win over Greece in the Nations League on Thursday
00:11night. Hall was a substituted half-time as Lee Carsey sort of switched up his defence.
00:16Rico Lewis went in the right-back, Kyle Walker went in the centre-half, Esri Kanza came out
00:20and Lewis Hall went in the left-back. And to be fair, he was really good for England.
00:25I think he showed exactly what he's shown for Newcastle, not just this season but the
00:29end of last season. He was involved in that wonderful play-out from the back move with
00:35Anthony Gordon ahead of him as Gordon started on the left wing. I think they had about 20-odd
00:39minutes together on the pitch before Gordon was substituted. That sort of little move
00:43is something that Newcastle have done very well under Eddie Howe. We've seen time and
00:47time again it was shown in England. Lewis Hall now has a brilliant opportunity to make
00:52that left-back spot his own really. England's options are very limited in that area. We've
00:56seen Kieran Trippier, the Euros play there. There's very few natural left-footed options
01:01and obviously he knows Thomas Tuchel well. So it'll be interesting to see what his England
01:06career holds now. Tino Livermender was also called up to the squad, not initially but
01:10after some injury pull-outs. He's yet to make his debut. This is the second time he's been
01:14in the squad and not made his debut. They play Ireland on Sunday. Could that be an opportunity
01:18for him to make his first cap and that would be, again, another feather in the cap for
01:23Newcastle that they've got potentially two of England's full-backs for the next decade
01:29even, you would say. If not for the next decade, certainly two really good options there. Lots
01:35of positives for Newcastle. There was nothing much happening in the international break.
01:39I think the one thing you can take from that is now they're getting people in that England
01:42squad with Anthony Gordon, with Livermender, Hall. Nick Pope missed out. That was a strange
01:47decision but they're getting players in and around that squad and it'll be one that lots
01:50of Newcastle fans will be happy with. Certainly, that's the main takeaway I think from this
01:54international break that that England squad is now having Newcastle players in. Of course,
01:58it's always good to see Newcastle players in the England squad. Fans will hope they
02:01don't get injured but right now it's brilliant to see Hall, Livermender, Gordon mixing it
02:05with some of England's best talents. Of course, that's what you want from Newcastle. You want
02:11them to have a good, strong English cohort of players. I'm sure going forward that there
02:17will be more opportunities for them to impress and keep their club form going. There's no
02:21reason that when Tuchel comes in at the beginning of next year that they can't be ones that
02:27he picks often. Of course, looking ahead to after the international break, Newcastle have
02:32West Ham and you'd expect Livermender, Hall, Gordon, all to play a major part in that game.
02:38Of course, Dan Byrne won't be there. He's suspended so I assume Lloyd Kelly will come
02:42in to play that left-centre half role alongside Fabian Scheer. Eddie Howe, probably that's
02:48the only major decision Eddie Howe's got to make. The other one you would think is maybe
02:50what to do with Sandro Tonali. He scored his first ever goal for Italy on Thursday night
02:55so again, has he forced himself into his plans? Although the midfield has looked more balanced
02:59with Longstaff, Willock and Bruno in there with Joe Linton on the left or the right,
03:04does Tonali come into that? If he doesn't, then what is his role going forward? Tonali's
03:09played a little bit more advanced for Italy. Is that a role you can see him in with Newcastle?
03:13Can Eddie Howe see that? Is there options? There's plenty of things for Howe to think
03:17about heading into that game but it's positive right now in Newcastle and as I said, positive
03:20on the international stage as some of their players are finally getting the recognition
03:24that they deserve for a brilliant turnout, especially in the last three or four games.
03:27Newcastle have been brilliant. That win over Nottingham Forest, I said at the time before
03:32the match, I said again, that was a real statement win on the road. They've struggled on the road
03:36this season but that one really was a statement win and one that they can sort of put a marker
03:40down and say, we can go to some of the biggest, biggest grounds, most intimidating grounds,
03:44you know, team in form and put in a real performance there because it was a real good
03:48performance, especially that second half that were brilliant. West Ham coming up,
03:52Lula and Lopetegui's side haven't been brilliant this year but they beat Man U a couple of weeks
03:56ago in the Eric Ten Hag's last game so they certainly will come up, come Newcastle with
04:01confidence but Newcastle will have the crowd on their side, they'll have momentum going into that
04:05game and that'll be one where they feel they'll get the, they should get three points. I said
04:10the home record was brilliant barring that Brighton defeat and they'll be fancying their
04:15chances against West Ham but it's always a difficult game against West Ham, you know,
04:18their home record against them hasn't been brilliant. I mean, yes, they beat them in March
04:22but we all remember that game, three-one down after half-time. It felt like that could be a
04:26real turning point of their season, you know, had they lost that game but they got over the line
04:31eventually. Harvey Barnes stunned out at the end with his two goals, you know, two from Alexander
04:35Isak. So, yeah, it's one that Newcastle will be hoping they can do something after the international
04:39break and that is certainly a good test for them with Crystal Palace to come a week later after the
04:45international break and then that massive game against Liverpool. It'll be good to see Newcastle
04:48play against Liverpool because the last couple of games, you know, Nick Pope got red-carded
04:53just before the Carabao Cup final two seasons ago. Last season, we all remember, they played against
04:57ten men for a great period that game for Darwin Nunez-Brace at the end, won it for Liverpool. So,
05:01it'll be good to see Newcastle test themselves against Liverpool, hopefully in MV11 and that'll
05:05be the one that'll show really where they are but they can't take their eyes off the next two games
05:11before then because West Ham and Palace are two teams they've found it difficult against in recent
05:15times, whether it's home or away. So, yeah, they're gonna have to come back from the international
05:20break strong but they'll be buoyed by the form of some of their players on international break and
05:24hopefully, fingers crossed, if they can stay injury-free, they'll go into that game against
05:28West Ham full of confidence that they can do something.
