00:00So Newcastle United leave it late but they get the win over Fulham. 2-1 victories secured by Bruno Guimaraes. It was a game that Newcastle United wanted to win. Of course you want to win all your home games but against the Fulham side, especially after the win against Benfica, you think can they really get the momentum, can they stamp their authority on the Premier League and start racking up wins.
00:22Of course he got beat by Brighton last week. Came into the game full of confidence as I mentioned after that Benfica win. Anyhow made just one change with Joe Linton coming in to replace Jacob Ramsey. I think that was pretty standard. No real shocks there.
00:35Sandro Tonali not starting, wasn't really surprised after his illness but it was good to see Joe Linton in the team and he really helped on that left win because he had Adama Traore up against Dan Byrne.
00:44I think that was a bit of a concern for fans and journalists and everyone alike heading into the game but Dan Byrne dealt very well with Traore and to be fair I think you guys had started off better.
00:53The first five minutes certainly were very much on the front foot. Fulham then worked their way back into it a little bit but you guys were the ones who got there themselves in front.
01:01Jacob Murphy, ever the creator, this time getting on the score sheet. He did brilliantly to dispossess Calvin Bassi in the midfield.
01:07And just ran at the defence, just ran and ran 20-30 yards and stroked the ball home past Byrne Leno in off the post.
01:13It was a really good goal for him, one that lifted the crowd and he could have made it too later on in the half.
01:19With a similar, you know, he was fed through by Anthony Gordon but his Leno stayed strong that time, stayed up, waited for Murphy to make it and got the save.
01:27But yeah, so Newcastle 1-0 ahead of half-time. Jacob Murphy with the open.
01:30Now that was the same as this fixture last season. Jacob Murphy put Newcastle ahead that day, went into half-time 1-0.
01:36But Fulham turned around on that day with a 2-1 win. This time it would have been Newcastle that would win 2-1.
01:41However, I think everyone who remembers that game, it wasn't one that would live too long in their memories.
01:46Everyone who remembers that game might have been fearing the worst when Sasa Lukic got an equaliser for Fulham.
01:51They really worked their way back into the game. Newcastle started a bit slowly in second half.
01:55It was a bit distracting from both teams and Fulham did really well.
01:57Kevin, who came on at half-time, ball across. Jimenez, his effort hit, smashed the bar, came down.
02:03And Lukic was first to react over Sven Botman to head it in.
02:06Now, Botman was injured in that collision. I think Lukic either his elbow or a head sort of collided with Botman.
02:12Now, to be fair, it was no mallet. It was no foul. It wasn't a foul.
02:15It just happens, you know, when both players go for the ball.
02:17Botman then had to come off to be replaced by Fabian Scher.
02:22Howe admitted after the game that that was if Botman should be fine.
02:25Howe made three changes at that point.
02:27Brought Tonali on, brought Harvey Barnes on and Fabian Scher.
02:30So, you know, he really went for it. But Newcastle couldn't really get in any rhythm.
02:34Fulham had a couple of chances. Newcastle had a few chances.
02:36Bruno had a header that went over the bar.
02:37But as the game ticked on, you did think, would they come to regret these misses?
02:41Would this be another one game that sort of falls by the wayside?
02:45But fortunately, there was one subs that Tupacau made which really changed the game.
02:49And that was Willis Sula.
02:50He came on for Valtomar. It was about five minutes ago, I think, at normal time.
02:53And he just ran around, you know.
02:55But Willis Sula's at his best when this game's a bit chaotic and he could just run around.
02:59He pressed the defenders who had probably got, you know, the better of Valtomar.
03:03Or as the game progressed, he probably felt they were having an easier day.
03:06But Willis Sula was always pressing, always.
03:08And that was how their winning goal came about.
03:10He won the ball in midfield.
03:12Ran at the defence.
03:12It was his athleticism and his pace that really scared the Fulham defenders.
03:17He took it on his left foot.
03:19He curled a shot.
03:20Burton Leno made a really good save.
03:21But Bruno, as he always is, right place, right time.
03:24Stroke to go home.
03:25Yeah, fantastic goal.
03:26Really good from Willis Sula.
03:28Really good from Bruno.
03:28He'll be at the right place at the right time, as I said.
03:30It was just a proper captain's goal.
03:32You know, people criticise Bruno at times.
03:34I think very unfairly.
03:36But he's always there when he can see a night in Eden, leading by example.
03:38And players like that don't come at it too often.
03:40So it's a fantastic moment for Bruno.
03:41So really good from Willis Sula.
03:44Malik Chau was fantastic as well throughout the day.
03:46And there was lots of positive performances.
03:47I think Ugasso was sloppy at times.
03:49Did they deserve it?
03:50Not sure.
03:51I think that Fulham would be disappointed come away without a point.
03:54Alex Iwobi described it as a dagger to the heart.
03:56But Ugasso won't care about that.
03:57They won late after getting beat by Arsenal.
04:00And Liverpool at home later on, they'll be happy to be on the right end of that.
04:03And as I said, after the win against Benfica, it was good to see them rack up another win in the Premier League.
04:07And with Tottenham becoming the Carabao Cup on Wednesday,
04:09they'll really hope to start racking up those wins in what is going to be a big few games
04:14with West Ham and Bredford coming in the Premier League,
04:17Tottenham in the Carabao Cup and Athletic Club in the Champions League.
04:20So it's another good period of games.
04:22Games coming thick and fast, but they'll be happy to win today.
04:24And yeah, I think the vast majority, 52,000, 125 people inside St. James Park will be leaving here happy.
