00:00What do Bristolians think of the Labour government's autumn 2024 budget?
00:05We've got through a difficult period in our history since about 2020.
00:10A lot of people scammed it and got away with financial murder, really.
00:15And we're all paying for it, really.
00:18I'm very lucky, I've got my pension.
00:21I would say their trustworthiness was still pretty good on the whole.
00:26But the American election is going to change things.
00:31Because if Trump imposes tariffs, that could affect British economy.
00:37It could mean that both borrowing and tax increases
00:43might be necessary further down the line.
00:46So that doesn't impinge on their trustworthiness,
00:50but it impinges on their ability to keep to what they've promised.
00:55Rachel Reeves delivered the autumn 2024 budget,
00:59making her the first woman to deliver a UK budget.
01:02Let's find out what locals in the city of Bristol think.
01:06I'm wearing the city well off, fortunately.
01:10I never could really understand why I received the winter fuel allowance.
01:15So I don't mind that going.
01:20Other things, I think, on balance, it's probably the right things to do, mostly.
01:25I think that they are hitting old people like me, particularly.
01:30People that have... I mean, I started work on my 15th birthday
01:34and I've paid taxes and insurance ever since then.
01:37And I retired when I was... stopped paying tax when I was 80.
01:42So, you know, it's not fair, really,
01:46because heating is really bad.
01:49Costs of that are huge now.
01:51And I'm having to take money out of my savings,
01:54which I don't really want to do.
01:56I'd rather spend it on nice things, like holidays.
