00:00The Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronism has questioned the lack of support by MPs

00:07and Assemblymen for a witness in an alleged case of Assemblymen discussing bribes for

00:11a project licence.

00:12C4 lauded Kepung MP Lim Lip Eng for committing to share the evidence and names of those involved

00:19in Parliament should the whistleblower reach out to him.

00:22However, C4 said that Lim stands in the minority in seeking the truth and criticised the deafening

00:28silence from other MPs and Assemblymen on the matter.

00:33If the allegations are true, C4 argued they expose a critical flaw in oversight by the

00:38elected representatives.

00:40Previously, senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers were reported to have

00:44met a lawyer over the alleged case who played a 17-second audio clip in which several people

00:50were heard having a conversation about money.

00:54MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki said the lawyer wanted an agreement that his client

00:58would not come under investigation but officers disagreed as it was not in line with the procedure.

01:04C4 said the whistleblower's fears were not without basis as Section 11 Sub 1A of the

01:10Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 states that the protection can be revoked if the enforcement

01:15agency is of the opinion that the witness was a participant in the alleged misconduct.
