00:00Party solidarity Tana Ayurku has withdrawn its support for the Sabah government led by
00:05Haji J. Noor and will take on the role of the opposition in the State Assembly.
00:10Its president Jeffrey Kitingan said the party was not part of the new administration and
00:14would instead concentrate on providing checks and balances on the state government in the
00:19Assembly, the New Straight Times reported.
00:21However, it was later announced that Star Assemblyman Ishak Ayyub had been appointed
00:26as an assistant minister in the new Sabah government by Haji J. Noor, but Kitingan will still remain in the opposition bloc.
00:33Star left Gabungan Rakyat Sabah last month in protest of the coalition's pact with Pakatan Harapan.
00:39On Sunday, Kitingan said that his party would support Haji J, the GRS chairman,
00:44as chief minister following the state polls on Saturday.
00:47Party Bersatu Sabah Acting President Joaquin Gonsalam, representing chief minister, yesterday unveiled
00:52the state's new cabinet, which brings together elected representatives from GRS, UPCO, PH, and Barisan National.
01:00GRS came out top in the election, winning 29 of the 73 seats it contested.
01:05It has the support of six Assemblymen from BN, three from UPCO, one each from PH and Party Kesejahtran
01:11Democratic Masyarakat, and five independents, which enabled it to form the state government.
