A leading luxury retailer has officially opened its doors in Leeds. Flannels has welcomed its first customers in the former Debenhams site on Briggate which has been under renovation since late last year.

00:00A leading luxury retailer has officially opened its doors in Leeds.
00:04Flannels has welcomed its first customers in the former Debenhams site on Brigitte,
00:09which has been under renovation since late last year.
00:12It has been one of the most highly anticipated openings in Leeds, and the transformed venue
00:17covers six floors and spans 65,000 square feet.
00:21As well as clothing and homeware, the venue is set to launch Pilates and yoga classes
00:26and a run club.
00:28Debenhams closed its last 28 stores forever on the 15th of May 2021, including their Brigitte
00:35venue.
00:36Plans were underway for the site to become student flats, but these were abandoned in
00:40favour of opening the Flannels flagship store.
00:43A statement submitted as part of the planning application said the proposed scheme will
00:48deliver a sustainable beneficial use for a vacant retail building, and highlighted the
00:53positive contribution the refurbishment of the Grade II listed building will make to
00:57the economic vitality of the area.
