00:00Just as Frank Sipisad says, acts of bullying are evil.
00:04According to him, the problem extends past our nation's schools, to people in communities
00:09and people with titles in offices such as in the courts.
00:13And even our parliament, where very recently disturbing, disappointing, degrading and disgraceful
00:24comments were issued.
00:28Bullying is fostered by insecurity, intolerance and a lack of respect.
00:37Just as Sipisad says, children in turn adopt behaviours that they witness and he is concerned.
00:43The outlook for our future does not augur well when those who should know better behave
00:54poorly.
00:55When they use cross-language and when they perpetuate divisive discord and dogmas.
01:06He says action should be faced with consequences stating quote-unquote words matter.
01:12And a no-tolerance approach to this type of unacceptable behaviour must be engaged.
01:23In another note, Sipisad refers to domestic and gender-based violence as strangling the
01:28nation at this time.
01:31This is not a police problem.
01:34It is not a court problem.
01:36It is not a government problem.
01:40This is a we problem.
01:44And to overcome this evil, a multifaceted approach is required.
01:51He calls for better support systems, the strengthening of institutional systems, the
01:56imposing of stringent sanctions on offenders and gender-sensitisation programs.
02:02Aimed at resetting entrenched misogynistic attitudes and we must reject the objectification
02:13of our nation's women.
