00:00Well, time to rally around the West Indies, they certainly need it as things did not work
00:05in favour of the men and that's because host Sri Lanka hammered the Caribbean side
00:09by 73 runs in the second T20 International in Dambulla to level the three-game series
00:14at one apiece.
00:15Well, the Sri Lankans made 162 for five before skittling out the Windies for just 89.
00:23In what was a must-win game for Sri Lanka, the hosts chose to bat against the West Indies
00:27in the second T20 in Dambulla.
00:29After three economical overs, Patum Nisanker was severe on Shemar Joseph in the fourth,
00:34which cost 25 runs.
00:35Nisanker and Kosal Mendis put on 77 in 9.5 overs.
00:42Mendis was caught in the deep for 26, giving Shemar Springer the scalp.
00:46Kosal Pereira joined Nisanker and the two put on a partnership of 34 runs.
00:52Pereira was all for 24 and Nisanker, 54.
00:55Romario Sheppard bowled well and picked up two for 23 from three overs.
01:00The last ball was struck for a boundary as Sri Lanka closed on 162 for five.
01:08In reply, the men in maroon had it tough out in the middle.
01:11Dunit Vilalage was the man to do lots of damage with wide cherry in hand.
01:15He ended with impeccable figures of three for nine from his four overs.
01:21Captain Charit Asalanka also bowled well, taking two wickets.
01:26Captain Ravman Powell was the top scorer for the Windies with 20.
01:33One Indu Hassaranga was expensive, picking up two for 32 from three overs.
01:41Then Matisha Patirana was the man to remove Powell and three figures seemed out of the
01:46question.
01:47And that's what happened as Maish Tikshana took the last one to end with two for seven.
01:52The West Indies capitulated for 89 in 16.1 overs and lost by 73 runs.
01:59Their abject batting display has resulted in Thursday's third and final match being
02:03the decider.
02:04Venu Narwani takes export.
02:07Quite understandably he's not a happy man as Windies captain Ravman Powell sought to
02:11explain his team's poor performance.
02:14To be honest at the halfway stage we believed that we could have gotten 160 but having said
02:19that the wicket wasn't really a cricket wicket, it wasn't really a T20 wicket.
02:24When batters look in to try to score it was obviously difficult for us but that is where
02:28you use conditions and I think they used their conditions brilliant tonight.
02:33I think it's just a case of us not reaching for the ball as much as we did tonight.
02:39We have an opportunity in 24 hours to come again and having said that we get back to
02:44our dressing room, look at our dismissals and see how best we can put it together for
02:48the final one.
