Well the West Indies were beaten by Sri Lanka in the first of three One Day Internationals today by five wickets on the Duckworth Lewis method. The Windies recovered from a rough start to post 185 for four before Sri Lanka was given a revised total of 234 to chase. They did so with 31 balls to spare.

00:00West Indies took first strike in this encounter with the intention of getting
00:03a win and moving up the rankings. Alec Athanese and Brandon King took first
00:08strike. King was the first to go with a score of 34. Seven runs later and
00:13Athanese would join him in the pavilion. Shea Hope was then given LBW for five
00:19and things were looking shaky for the visitors. However, Kessie Carthy and
00:24Shefane Rutherford put things back on target for the Windies. It took them 25
00:29overs to reach 100 before Carthy got out for 37.
00:38Rutherford and Ruston Chase then began to moto along. The Guyanese batsman
00:43getting to his half century and eventually 74 not out while Chase was on
00:4733 when rain caused the delay. West Indies reaching 185 for four from 38.3
00:54overs. Sri Lanka had to chase a revised the total of 232 from 37 overs with eight
01:01overs in the power play. Well the Windies struck first removing Avishka Fernando
01:06for five. Hussain Mendes got out for 13.
01:15Koda Kishmoti grabbed the three wickets in the match and this was his first.
01:20However, Nishan Mudaksa scored 69 from 54 balls and Charith Asalanka top
01:26scored with 77 as Sri Lanka easily chased 234 for the loss of five wickets.
01:32They win the match in 31.5 overs and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
