00:00I've heard that there's been a lot of comparisons to The Sopranos recently.
00:04So what do you make of those kind of comparisons?
00:06I think HBO has a long list of great gangster shows.
00:09The Sopranos is one of them, of course, Wire.
00:14There's a ton of them.
00:15They've just been amazing.
00:17So to me, it's a way to do a gangster character at a place that's known for good gangster
00:23fare.
00:24But it really comes from the Batman movie and this great character that Oz and Matt
00:29created from the movie and that Lauren LaFranc detailed out in a limited series.
00:34Well, it's been incredible to see Colin Farrell transform into this role.
00:39What was it like seeing him back in this character?
00:43But also, what was your first thought when you first saw him kind of step into this character?
00:46I was amazed, of course, with the prosthetics.
00:48But I always see Colin behind the prosthetics.
00:51The way Mike's prosthetics work, you still see his facial movements.
00:55You still see his eyes.
00:56The soul of Colin Farrell is dark and deep and it broods out in amazing ways.
01:02He's just the most incredible actor.
01:05He also has no prosthetics on his hands.
01:07So every time I get a little lost in the prosthetics, I look down at his hands and I go, oh, that's
01:12Colin Farrell.
01:13But it really isn't his eyes.
01:14He gives such an amazing performance because he connects with those Colin Farrell eyes.
01:18Well, we first see him, of course, in the Batman.
01:21Was there any thought or did you ever consider having the Batman make any sort of appearance
01:26in this when you were first kind of developing this story?
01:29We always thought about that, but we really wanted to do a standalone series around Oz
01:34and then the characters that Lauren was writing, Sophia Falcone, Oz's mother, Francis, Vic.
01:40There were so many characters to explore that once we got deep into this run and these worlds
01:45and these arcs, it really wasn't meant for Batman.
01:49The movie's meant to see Bruce and Batman's point of view, and these shows are about these
01:55marquee, rogues gallery characters, their point of view.
01:59Kristen Milioti also really shines through in this.
02:01What makes her the perfect Sophia?
02:03Well, I think she's surprising.
02:04First, she knows this world very well.
02:07Gangsters.
02:08I tease her, she's from New Jersey.
02:09She must have some mob family connections deep down there.
02:12She felt very comfortable at the table doing tough talk.
02:16So that was one.
02:17But she's also just, what a hard worker.
02:20She just wanted to bring her A-game and she came prepared, and this is a really challenging
02:25part.
02:26It's physical, it's very psychological, and she's the one that goes toe-to-toe with Oz
02:30throughout.
02:31So it's really demanding.
02:33Also we know that the Batman sequel has been delayed to 2026.
02:37Can you share where we are in the development process?
02:39Do we have scripts out?
02:40We'll be shooting next year.
02:41We're excited to be shooting and can't wait to get back to Leavesden with our English
02:46crew and get going.
