At the premiere of 'The Penguin,' Michael Zegen tells THR how much he misses his 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' family and wanting a 'Maisel' movie. Plus, he talks working with Colin Farrell and seeing him in prosthetics for the first time.

00:00Were you big into the Batman comics growing up?

00:02I was. I was. Yeah. I, you know, when I was a kid, the Tim Burton movie came out and it

00:09changed my life. I was obsessed with Batman. I rushed out and got all the comic books.

00:14I collected comic books, read comic books for years. Batman being, you know, the predominant

00:20one. Michael Keaton is the only Batman for me now. No, actually, I thought Robert Pattinson

00:25did a really great job and when I found out he was cast, I was like, that's perfect.

00:29So, to get to, you know, play a small, even a small part in this universe, in this, you

00:34know, Pattinson, Matt Reeves universe is so special.

00:37Well, it's also incredible to see Colin Farrell completely transform into this character.

00:43What was it like first seeing him walk out onto the set and was there a scene that you

00:47shared with him that particularly stood out to you?

00:50Well yes. This, the first scene in this, in this first episode is basically me and him.

00:56Yeah, you haven't seen it yet.

00:58No, I have not.

00:59But I lived it. But yeah, so it was also the first scene that we shot for the entire show.

01:09So I was like super nervous, he was nervous, everybody was nervous, the crew was nervous.

01:14So yeah, and he couldn't have been more pleasant to work with. He, you know, he never forgot

01:21a line. Like, we shot that scene over two days and never once forgot a line. I mean,

01:25I forgot a few. It was also freezing cold in that studio because he was wearing all

01:29the prosthetics. And so he jacked, he had the air conditioning jacked up. So it was

01:34like, it was like minus 30 in the studio and I'm not wearing prosthetics. So I was free,

01:39I was shivering, like, and, and in the scene, you'll see, like, I'm supposed to be cocky,

01:44I'm supposed to be confident, you know, and I'm just like, underneath, I'm shivering.

01:47Well, you haven't seen it yet. So maybe, maybe you, maybe you do play it cool.

01:50I've asked a few people, they agree. I was cool. Yeah.

01:54Well, I know that the show has also been likened a little bit to The Sopranos in recent days.

01:59What do you make of those comparisons?

02:00Yeah, I mean, again, I haven't seen it yet, but they're both, you know, mob shows. And

02:06so I could see the comparisons. I guess Colin maybe resembles James Gandolfini a little

02:11bit. Maybe that, maybe that's part of the comparisons as well. But, but there's certainly,

02:17you know, probably more death in this show and destruction and, you know, Gotham's not

02:23not really New Jersey. It's a little more dangerous. I'm from New Jersey, so I know.

02:29But, but yeah, I could see the comparisons for sure.

02:32Finally, I wanted to say this past Sunday were the Emmys. It was the first one without

02:36the Maisel family there to kind of represent a little bit, a little bittersweet.

02:39Yeah, we deserve more Emmys, I think. Yeah.

02:41More seasons, please.

02:43Please. Hey, I mean, you're preaching to the choir. I would love to do more seasons. I

02:48would love to do a Maisel movie. Let's do it.

02:50Yeah, let's pitch it. Let's pitch it out there. But I wanted to say...

02:53I've pitched it multiple times by now, yeah.

02:55What is your bond with the cast like now? Are you guys, do you guys still have a group

02:58text or group chat going?

02:59Yeah, we have a group chat. We were texting each other on Sunday, you know, because we

03:03were sad we weren't together. But, you know, we're all in different places and everybody's

03:09working. And I mean, I miss them so much. I miss that show so much. But, you know, we'll

03:16see each other again. It'll happen. We'll have a reunion soon.
