The Public Utilities Minister says the incoming new CEO of the Water and Sewerage Authority, "is very fortunate to be surrounded by a team of people who are quite familiar with the terrain at" WASA.

As such, the Minister says he expects a "seemless" and "smooth" transition from the existing management team to the new one to be lead by the new WASA C-E-O who takes up the job soon.

00:00St. Kitts born Keith Roy Halliday is set to take up the job of Chief Executive
00:05Officer of Trinidad and Tobago's Water and Sewerage Authority within the next
00:09two months. After the launch of new specialized equipment for the Met
00:12Service at the Piaco International Airport on Saturday, TV6 News has sought
00:17an update from Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzalez as WASA recently named
00:22its new nine-member management team. How is that transition now between the
00:28present management and how will that go into the new management? I think it will
00:31be a seamless transition because a lot of the managers, the new directors
00:36that are being appointed, they currently serve in the management of WASA. Minister
00:41Gonzalez identified some of them by name. So for example, Shira Ali, even the
00:46current acting CEO Kelvin Romaine, Miss Bailey Alicia Romano, Anand Jagannath
00:54in South, they currently serve in senior leadership position in the
01:00authority. So the new position that they are assuming would not be entirely new
01:04for them. WASA has said that Mr. Halliday is the former General Manager of the
01:09Barbados Water Authority, a position he held for the past seven years. The CEO of
01:15course is new because he's coming from Barbados but he's very fortunate to
01:20be surrounded by a team of people who are quite familiar with the terrain at
01:24the Water and Sewerage Authority. So their learning curve is not expected to
01:28be that steep. So I expect a smooth transition. What the board is doing, what
01:32it's supposed to be doing, I understand yesterday the chairman had some
01:36meetings, virtual meetings with the incoming executive team. So I expect them
01:41to do what they're supposed to do so that we have a smooth transition come the
01:46That is the date when Mr. Halliday will be taking up his new job as the CEO of
01:52WASA. Jule Brown, TV6 News.
