The search for a new Chief Executive Officer of the Water and Sewerage Authority is finally over.

WASA has confirmed that a national from St Kitts and Nevis has resigned from the Barbados Water Authority - to serve as WASA's new CEO, following a media report out of St Kitts.

And the Public Utilities Minister tells TV6 News he is "happy that the management aspect of the restructuring of WASA " has finally gotten off the ground".

00:00After the Times Caribbean Online, the website of the St. Kitts Nevis Times reported on Friday
00:06that St. Kitts-born Keith Roy Halliday is set to become the new Chief Executive Officer
00:12of Trinidad and Tobago's Water and Sewerage Authority, WASA.
00:16An official statement was issued by WASA, which said its Board of Commissioners was
00:20pleased to announce Mr. Halliday's appointment.
00:24WASA said Mr. Halliday will assume office on November 1st and will lead a restructured
00:29nine-member leadership team at the authority.
00:32WASA also said the other members of the authority's new leadership team will be announced early
00:38in the coming week.
00:40TV6 News sent a question to Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzalez to find out how he
00:45would describe Mr. Halliday's appointment as WASA's new CEO.
00:50Minister Gonzalez said that he is happy that the management aspect of the restructuring
00:55has finally gotten off the ground.
00:58Earlier this year, a national of Zimbabwe was hired to be WASA's CEO, but he died before
01:04he was able to take up the appointment.
01:06WASA said that Mr. Halliday is the former General Manager of the Barbados Water Authority,
01:13a position he held for the past seven years.
01:15WASA also said that during his tenure, Mr. Halliday advanced the BWA's finances to a
01:22zero-budget entity for the past four years, during which the organization has been able
01:26to cover all of its operational expenses, and external funding is now only required
01:33for the more significant national priority capital expenditure needs.
01:38WASA also said that Mr. Halliday is no stranger to Trinidad and Tobago, having spent a decade
01:43in the Twin Island Republic as a General Manager in the telecommunications retail industry.
01:49WASA also revealed that Mr. Halliday is a doctoral student at the Arthur Lockjack Graduate
01:54School of Business in the Doctor of Business Administration program with emphasis on intelligent
02:01water systems.
02:02The authority added that Mr. Halliday holds an MBA and postgraduate diploma and certificate
02:08in business from a university in Enidburgh, Scotland.
02:12TV6 News asked Minister Gonzalez what would happen with regard to Kelvin Romain's position
02:18as WASA's acting CEO when Mr. Halliday begins his appointment as the new CEO on November
02:251st.
02:26Minister Gonzalez said that WASA's board will determine that, but Mr. Romain's substantive
02:31position is that of manager within the authority.
