DUKE CALLS FOR FARLEY TO RESIGN

PDP leader Watson Duke and former associate of T.H.A. Chief Secretary Farley Augustine is tonight calling on Mr. Augustine to resign, in light of the spiraling murder rate in Tobago. Duke's call comes as Tobago recorded murder number 22 on Wednesday morning, marking a  one hundred percent increase in gun- related incidents. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:27to present to us. We would accept it and we will go to the house and we will

00:31probe the house. We will bring the house to nought and we will have elections. Let

00:36the people of Tobago elect someone who can solve crime. Mr. Duke said Chief

00:41Secretary Farley Augustine has failed to have the crime situation in Tobago

00:46under control. Crime is serious business. You need to be a leader to solve crime.

00:51You can't be no little joker, no little run-up-and-down glad boy. This is serious

00:56business and you have failed to address crime. You have failed to bring together

01:01the various arms of security in Tobago to assist Tobago in solving crime. Duke

01:07said the murder rate in Tobago continues to trend upwards. Tobago is now the

01:12greatest little island on earth insofar as murders are concerned. Yes and I have

01:20the statistics to prove and I challenge anybody. The Minister of National

01:25Security, the Police Commissioner, the ACP responsible for Tobago, that's

01:31Assistant Commissioner of Police responsible for Tobago. I challenge

01:36anybody to come with more truer statistics than this. TV6 contacted

01:42Chief Secretary Farley Augustine on Duke's call for him to resign. Mr. Augustine

01:47stated quote, I did not know that I was one of the Ministers of National

01:52Security. I did not realize that I was head of the National Security Council. I

01:57did not know that I was the Commissioner of Police. It does not help when the

02:03village idiot tries to politicize the country's current crime situation. It is
