Eight hundred people have benefitted from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services' House Repair Programme, to the tune of 3.5 million dollars. The Ministry's goal is to increase the number of households benefitting from the Home Improvement Grants to fifteen hundred annually, by 2030.

00:00800 people will soon be able to sleep better at night having benefited from
00:05home repair grants courtesy the Ministry of Social Development and the Family
00:09Services. A total of 3.5 million dollars has been spent on the program for the
00:15year thus far across three grant categories. And just to provide a
00:20breakdown of what we are giving out today two million three hundred and
00:24thirty eight thousand two hundred and twenty six dollars and fifty cents for
00:29minor house repairs. Five hundred and seventy thousand one hundred and eleven
00:35dollars and eight cents in sanitary plumbing assistance. Four hundred ninety
00:42six thousand four hundred and fifty nine dollars and twenty two cents in house
00:48wiring assistance. A significant portion of this funding will go towards victims
00:53of disaster. Recipients may receive between fifteen and twenty thousand
00:58dollars per grant. Minor house repairs as we saw in the video and this provides
01:05up to fifteen thousand dollars in materials only for the repair upgrade of
01:10the dwelling houses and up to twenty thousand dollars in materials only to
01:15effect repairs upgrades in the event of a disaster. Our sanitary plumbing
01:23assistance provides up to fifteen thousand dollars in materials under
01:27normal circumstances and in the event of a disaster for the repair or upgrade of
01:32toilet and bathroom facilities. Applicants must have ownership and
01:38authorization to occupy the property for which the application for assistance is
01:44requested and in some cases must meet the financial eligibility criteria. The
01:51program seeks to specifically target the poor and vulnerable groups in
01:55society including but not limited to our senior citizens, persons with
02:00disabilities, unemployed persons, victims of domestic violence and single-parent
02:05household and has proven to be an instrumental component of the
02:10ministry's plan to ensure that the poor and vulnerable citizens throughout the
02:15country reside under habitable conditions. A full listing of eligibility
