00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.

00:03Concerned residents are being given the opportunity to address a crucial planning meeting

00:08to help decide controversial plans to build 1,800 homes near two Derbyshire villages.

00:14Waystone Ltd's planning application for 1,800 homes between Clown and Bulborough

00:20is due to be considered by Bolsover District Council's Planning Committee on September 17th.

00:25Hundreds of local residents have objected to the scheme

00:28over fears that it will lead to overcrowding,

00:31place a strain on highways health and education services,

00:34create drainage and flooding problems

00:36and affect the countryside and wildlife with the potential loss of greenbelt land.

00:41The Planning Committee meeting is due to start at 9.30am on September 17th at The Ark in Clown

00:47with additional space being held in Committee Room 1.

00:51Those who have made representations about the planning application

00:54and want to address the committee can register at the council's website.

00:58So can you just tell me why we're here?

00:59So we're here to protest against the 1,800 houses that Bolsover District Council want to build on the north side of Clown.

01:05It's going to impact all the infrastructure within the area.

01:08We're going to need new primary schools.

01:10We're going to need extensions built into the existing secondary schools.

01:14The road network can't handle the new 3,500 cars that are going to be on the roads

01:22and the medical centres are going to be overwhelmed with approximately about 23,000 more appointments every year.

01:29So this is the action group out telling Bolsover District Council at their full council meeting

01:35that we don't want the houses building and they need to go away and come up with a better plan.

01:39As a Bolsover parish councillor, we feel that trouble Bob Brown about.

01:45We're going to be impacted by all this new housing

01:49in terms of traffic coming through the village.

01:52We're already getting another 650 houses down at Maston Moor.

01:56Another 450 down at Whitlow.

01:581,800 houses here.

02:01It's going to be an absolute nightmare.

02:03It's terrible at the moment for people trying to cross from that roundabout

02:07and certainly it's impossible for children

02:10that are trying to get to school into the village.

02:15This is really a really, really bad deal for us, certainly for Bolsover.

02:19God knows what it's going to do for Clown.

02:22The infrastructure on the roads is terrible now

02:26and there's going to be no improvement whatsoever.

02:29So for us it's an absolute disaster.

02:32I think where Bolsover District Council have now really crossed the line

02:36and have really I think lost the moral high ground is

02:39they're allowing the developers to cut the affordable housing contribution from 10%

02:43to 5% to pay for the roundabout

02:47and also to make a contribution towards the regeneration project for Clown

02:51which Bolsover District Council yesterday decided to kill off.

02:55So not only are we losing 50% of the affordable houses that we would have got

03:01we're not now going to get any of the improvements to Clown Town Centre

03:04that would have been happening under the Clown Regeneration Framework.

03:08Civic Watchdogs have welcomed the auction of a Victorian mansion in Chesterfield

03:12that has lain empty for 10 years.

03:15Hurst House on Abbey Crombie Street is a Grade II listed building

03:18and has a guide price of £375,000 which will be auctioned off on September 26th.

03:24The house dates back to 1840 and was originally built as a private residence.

03:29It was occupied by Chesterfield Grammar School from 1928 until 1967.

03:34Built in a mock Italian style, the building was part of the Duke of Devonshire Estate originally.

03:39The property has stone wall gardens and stand on a large prominent corner plot

03:43of 0.4 acres on the corner of Abbey Crombie Street and Sheffield Road in Chesterfield.
