00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03A Derbyshire campaigner says a council decision to withdraw services from local learning centres is devastating.
00:10Derbyshire County Council announced that adult education services are no longer to be run from five centres in the county,
00:17including Derbyshire Eco Centre near Worksworth, as well as Ashbourne Adult Education Centre,
00:22Long Eaton's Community House, Matlocks Ritz and Shirebrook Adult Education Centre.
00:27The Reform UK Control Council says a decision has been made due to rapid changes in grant conditions
00:33and reducing funding from the government no longer supporting courses run from the centres,
00:38as well as the local authorities' need to sustain the remaining adult education services.
00:43Campaigner Roger Jackson said,
00:44Obviously it's devastating for a lot of people who have been using the adult education centres for a lot of years
00:50and benefiting from it greatly, but we are just trying to be practical about it.
00:53Police are appealing for information after a crash near Chatsworth House.
01:00The collision, which involved a cyclist and a grey Vauxhall Crossland car,
01:04happened at around 1pm on Wednesday near the main bridge facing Chatsworth House in Ennser Village.
01:09The cyclist, a 61-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
01:14Officers have now launched an appeal for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage
01:18they may have captured for the incident to come forward and to contact them.
