00:04Derbyshire Police have thanked the local community for its support around planned far-right protests.

00:09The force issued a statement after rumours about planned protests circulated online yesterday,

00:15leading to a number of businesses closing as a precaution.

00:18Police also imposed a dispersal order on parts of Derby City Centre yesterday evening.

00:23The police statement reads,

00:24As a force, we have been working tirelessly with partners and community leaders over the past few days

00:29in response to information circulating online about planned protests.

00:33We are grateful to everyone who has been involved and cooperated with us.

00:37We are aware that there are many in the community who are understandably concerned by the reports online and in the media,

00:43but we'd like to reassure everyone that we do have full and robust plans in place to deal with any potential violence and disorder.

00:50Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Emma Aldred added,

00:53We are very much here to protect the communities of Derbyshire and we are working around the clock in order to do so.

00:59I want to reassure communities that we are doing our very best in terms of looking at information and intelligence,

01:04and I want to thank all those that have come forward and provided that information.

01:09There is no place in our county for racism, discrimination and the causing of fear which we are seeing among our communities.

01:18A decision on plans for a huge Derbyshire water park in a derelict quarry is set to be decided in under a month after years in limbo.

01:26The scheme by BMET Ltd for a water park in Cright Quarry, dubbed Amber Rock,

01:31was submitted in January 2022 to Derbyshire County Council after years of to-ing and fro-ing.

01:37Developers, who unveiled their initial plans back in 2019, say Amber Rock would contain an indoor water park,

01:44a 152-bed hotel, a 128-straw-bale lodge development, 210 holiday apartments, an indoor-outdoor climbing centre,

01:54heritage centre, clifftop restaurant, sports complex and underground parking for 769 vehicles.

02:01Now, the authority is set to make a decision on the controversial scheme on Monday, September 2nd.

02:06However, a recommendation from planning officials has not yet been released.
