00:03A planning inspector has dismissed an appeal for a housing scheme in a Derbyshire town due to design issues
00:08after developers had sought to build 132 homes on Greenfield land.
00:14North East Derbyshire District Council's planning committee originally refused the application from W Red Mile & Sons
00:19for the housing scheme on land near Burns Road, Southfield Drive and Chesterfield Road in Dromfield.
00:25The developers lodged an appeal, but a government-appointed planning inspector has now formally dismissed the matter on a number of grounds, including design issues.
00:35Alex Dale, Conservative County Councillor for Dromfield and Unstead and North East Derbyshire District Council for the neighbouring Unstead Ward said
00:42This is a huge result for local residents and a really important example of what can be achieved when communities stand together.
00:49The initial planning application had attracted dozens of letters of objections, with concerns raised about the potential strain on GPs,
00:57the environmental impact, traffic safety and congestion, draining issues, the seams design and worries around the loss of Greenfield land.
