Welcome back to another Minetest Mod Review. Today we are looking at the Crafty Arts Mod.
00:06
And as you can see in front of us here, this adds a couple nodes.
00:09
There's actually several variations on a few of these, which we will get to in a minute.
00:14
Let's start with the one node that does not have any variations, which would be this tinfoil.
00:20
So we can see here that it's a very thin node, just a little under a sixteenth of a node thick.
00:27
And you can place it on surfaces to wrap it in tinfoil, I suppose.
00:36
So here we see we have stone, and then on the two faces we have the tinfoil node.
00:41
Now of course, the issue that you always have with such types of nodes is that if we want to place something onto these two,
00:51
and say we had something placed on both of these, we actually can't because this whole node space is being filled with this one node.
01:02
So you can't actually do interior corners. Exterior corners work great though.
01:06
Now another thing I've noticed here, this node is set up as, what is it, buildable to.
01:16
So you can take any other node, let me just grab some grass here.
01:21
Let's grab two things of grass.
01:23
So I can just place the grass and it will replace it, and then I can also replace grass with this.
01:32
Which you might be saying, okay, well that's not really a big deal.
01:35
And no, it's not really until we realize, whoops, let me look at the craft recipe here,
01:41
that we're using three pieces of tin to make nine pieces of tinfoil.
01:45
So basically each sheet of tinfoil is a third of a tin ingot, and we're just losing it.
01:53
Also, yeah, sometimes the placement prediction seems a little off, like I would be expecting this to place onto this face,
02:03
but it's placing on this face.
02:05
So it's replacing itself in the same spot and I'm still losing one, which I think is normal.
02:10
If I grab a bunch of this grass, and then I place the grass on top of grass.
02:15
Yeah, that is the normal to be expected behavior of that.
02:19
So, yeah, works great for exterior corners, maybe not quite so much for interior,
02:24
but that is the only node that has no variations to it.
02:28
Then we have the buttons.
02:30
I will just mention this, these nodes are just all decorations.
02:38
They don't really serve any great purpose for anything other than just being decorative.
02:44
So to make the initial button, you're going to need four pieces of wood and some string,
02:49
and that'll give you two buttons.
02:51
And then any other button, or any color of button, I suppose, you can create just by dyeing any button that color that you want.
02:58
So for example, the red button, we can use any button and red dye and we'll get a red button.
03:04
So I can use a black button, I can use a yellow button, I can use a green button, I can use an orange button,
03:09
any color button, doesn't matter.
03:11
I just need the red dye and I will get a red button.
03:15
So buttons can be placed, they kind of look like dinner plates actually.
03:19
Wait, where's my button?
03:22
Oh, down here, okay.
03:24
So buttons can be placed on walls, like so.
03:31
They can be placed on the ground, obviously.
03:36
Can they be placed on undersides? I would expect that they could.
03:41
Yizir, yizir, yizir!
03:44
We have a button on the underside of a tree.
03:47
Very neat. So yeah, a lot of different colored options for the buttons.
03:51
I don't have any dye on me, so I can't really demonstrate dyeing it, but yeah, you get the idea.
03:57
And then we have what is my personal favorite, the chalk.
04:02
Because who doesn't need chalk?
04:06
That's a rhetorical question.
04:08
Don't answer in the comments if you don't need chalk, because I don't really care.
04:14
First, let's take a look at the craft recipe. It's pretty simple.
04:18
It's chalk and dye.
04:20
Yeah, so you just need a, oh sorry, clay.
04:23
It's a clay lump and dye.
04:26
Same for all of them. You just need to find yourself some clay and then dye it with some dye.
04:31
You get the idea.
04:33
And then this works...
04:38
I mean, technically you can't really use chalk on grass per se.
04:45
Oh, that's...
04:47
That uses up very quickly.
04:50
So each piece of chalk gives you one chalk line.
04:56
That's not what I was expecting.
05:00
I anticipated that the chalk would be like a tool,
05:06
and that you would get more than one use out of a piece of chalk.
05:12
But okay.
05:14
You just have to find yourself a bunch of clay, I suppose.
05:18
And yeah, you can make chalk art.
05:21
Now, you're kind of limited in your chalk art ability,
05:24
because this is using the, what is it, rail-like draw type?
05:28
So they automatically connect.
05:31
And yeah, you're pretty much limited to straight lines, corners, T's,
05:37
and full-on intersections,
05:41
which actually, somehow I managed to not create a single four-way intersection here.
05:48
We'll have to rectify that.
05:51
Oh, and when you break the chalk, you don't get anything back?
05:55
Oh, that's...
05:58
That's not like a problem per se,
06:02
but I don't have any clay on me, or dye.
06:07
Can the white chalk just be made out of a lump of clay?
06:12
I feel like I could probably find some clay out here,
06:16
in the water, without too much trouble.
06:20
I see some out there. I see some right here. Okay, perfect.
06:24
Please hold. We need to do a little excavating here.
06:28
We got us some chalk.
06:30
Except it's not actually chalk, it's clay at this point.
06:34
Which, uh...
06:36
Side note, I don't think clay technically ever becomes chalk.
06:43
I believe they're two completely different compounds.
06:50
I... What? But I thought, how do we make white chalk, then?
06:54
I need white dye, and I need dark grey dye to make the grey chalk.
07:00
But I ain't got any white dye!
07:04
That means we have to go exploring to find flowers.
07:09
Let me just take a quick, quick little peeky look, see?
07:13
Um, I'm not seeing any flowers.
07:17
Oh, but I bet there's flowers over here.
07:23
Let's, uh...
07:25
Let's fly on over and steal us a couple flowers real quick.
07:29
Make some dye, and...
07:32
All this to show that you can actually make a full four-way intersection
07:36
out of the chalk.
07:39
What an absolute waste of your time.
07:43
Oh, can I make... I can't. I don't even know what I'm asking.
07:47
Okay, we got our flowers. Let's head back.
07:51
We also got some random seeds. I don't need those, I will throw those.
07:55
And let the fishies eat them.
07:57
I hope you choke.
07:59
There are no fishes, and the fish won't choke on the seeds.
08:03
So don't worry, PETA.
08:05
You can calm your pretty self down.
08:10
There are no fishes that are going to choke on the seeds.
08:14
Alright, we got 12 pieces of chalk. Let's finish this.
08:18
Alright, so we need a four-way, full-on T-intersection.
08:23
It's not called a T-intersection. What is that called when it's a four-way?
08:27
An X-intersection? A plus sign intersection?
08:31
I think it's just called an intersection.
08:33
And then you have a T, when there's only three.
08:35
But I think when there's four, it's actually less words.
08:38
Very interesting.
08:39
Anyways, here is our beautiful masterpiece.
08:41
This is the floor plan to the Grand Suite at the Clarion.
08:49
Yes, not sponsored, by the way.
08:51
But Clarion, if you're interested in sponsoring, definitely hit me up.
08:55
Yeah, so there we have some chalk.
08:57
Beautiful, beautiful chalk art.
08:59
Oh, one thing I did want to point out, because I was going to try this
09:03
when I was setting up, and I thought I can't.
09:05
You can't put the chalk onto walls.
09:10
It only works on the floor.
09:12
So yeah, you get fun things like this because these nodes exist.
09:19
So it places there, but these, not so much.
09:24
And then on top of the buttons, I can technically put chalk.
09:27
That'll pull off a piece on the wall, but that's fine.
09:32
Yeah, so no graffiti on the walls here.
09:36
Sorry, kids.
09:38
I guess the rail-like draw type only lets you put it on the floor, not on walls.
09:43
So the more you know, right?
09:46
Anyways, that is going to do it, I think.
09:50
That should be all of the nodes.
09:54
Again, many different colors.
09:55
If you are interested in downloading this, links will all be on my website,
09:59
which will be linked down in the video description below.
10:01
Thanks for watching, and I will see you next time.
