00:00Welcome back to another Minetest Mod Review. Today we are looking at the Crafty Arts Mod.

00:06And as you can see in front of us here, this adds a couple nodes.

00:09There's actually several variations on a few of these, which we will get to in a minute.

00:14Let's start with the one node that does not have any variations, which would be this tinfoil.

00:20So we can see here that it's a very thin node, just a little under a sixteenth of a node thick.

00:27And you can place it on surfaces to wrap it in tinfoil, I suppose.

00:36So here we see we have stone, and then on the two faces we have the tinfoil node.

00:41Now of course, the issue that you always have with such types of nodes is that if we want to place something onto these two,

00:51and say we had something placed on both of these, we actually can't because this whole node space is being filled with this one node.

01:02So you can't actually do interior corners. Exterior corners work great though.

01:06Now another thing I've noticed here, this node is set up as, what is it, buildable to.

01:16So you can take any other node, let me just grab some grass here.

01:21Let's grab two things of grass.

01:23So I can just place the grass and it will replace it, and then I can also replace grass with this.

01:32Which you might be saying, okay, well that's not really a big deal.

01:35And no, it's not really until we realize, whoops, let me look at the craft recipe here,

01:41that we're using three pieces of tin to make nine pieces of tinfoil.

01:45So basically each sheet of tinfoil is a third of a tin ingot, and we're just losing it.

01:53Also, yeah, sometimes the placement prediction seems a little off, like I would be expecting this to place onto this face,

02:03but it's placing on this face.

02:05So it's replacing itself in the same spot and I'm still losing one, which I think is normal.

02:10If I grab a bunch of this grass, and then I place the grass on top of grass.

02:15Yeah, that is the normal to be expected behavior of that.

02:19So, yeah, works great for exterior corners, maybe not quite so much for interior,

02:24but that is the only node that has no variations to it.

02:28Then we have the buttons.

02:30I will just mention this, these nodes are just all decorations.

02:38They don't really serve any great purpose for anything other than just being decorative.

02:44So to make the initial button, you're going to need four pieces of wood and some string,

02:49and that'll give you two buttons.

02:51And then any other button, or any color of button, I suppose, you can create just by dyeing any button that color that you want.

02:58So for example, the red button, we can use any button and red dye and we'll get a red button.

03:04So I can use a black button, I can use a yellow button, I can use a green button, I can use an orange button,

03:09any color button, doesn't matter.

03:11I just need the red dye and I will get a red button.

03:15So buttons can be placed, they kind of look like dinner plates actually.

03:19Wait, where's my button?

03:22Oh, down here, okay.

03:24So buttons can be placed on walls, like so.

03:31They can be placed on the ground, obviously.

03:36Can they be placed on undersides? I would expect that they could.

03:44We have a button on the underside of a tree.

03:47Very neat. So yeah, a lot of different colored options for the buttons.

03:51I don't have any dye on me, so I can't really demonstrate dyeing it, but yeah, you get the idea.

03:57And then we have what is my personal favorite, the chalk.

04:02Because who doesn't need chalk?

04:06That's a rhetorical question.

04:08Don't answer in the comments if you don't need chalk, because I don't really care.

04:14First, let's take a look at the craft recipe. It's pretty simple.

04:18It's chalk and dye.

04:20Yeah, so you just need a, oh sorry, clay.

04:23It's a clay lump and dye.

04:26Same for all of them. You just need to find yourself some clay and then dye it with some dye.

04:31You get the idea.

04:33And then this works...

04:38I mean, technically you can't really use chalk on grass per se.

04:45Oh, that's...

04:47That uses up very quickly.

04:50So each piece of chalk gives you one chalk line.

04:56That's not what I was expecting.

05:00I anticipated that the chalk would be like a tool,

05:06and that you would get more than one use out of a piece of chalk.

05:12But okay.

05:14You just have to find yourself a bunch of clay, I suppose.

05:18And yeah, you can make chalk art.

05:21Now, you're kind of limited in your chalk art ability,

05:24because this is using the, what is it, rail-like draw type?

05:28So they automatically connect.

05:31And yeah, you're pretty much limited to straight lines, corners, T's,

05:37and full-on intersections,

05:41which actually, somehow I managed to not create a single four-way intersection here.

05:48We'll have to rectify that.

05:51Oh, and when you break the chalk, you don't get anything back?

05:55Oh, that's...

05:58That's not like a problem per se,

06:02but I don't have any clay on me, or dye.

06:07Can the white chalk just be made out of a lump of clay?

06:12I feel like I could probably find some clay out here,

06:16in the water, without too much trouble.

06:20I see some out there. I see some right here. Okay, perfect.

06:24Please hold. We need to do a little excavating here.

06:28We got us some chalk.

06:30Except it's not actually chalk, it's clay at this point.

06:34Which, uh...

06:36Side note, I don't think clay technically ever becomes chalk.

06:43I believe they're two completely different compounds.

06:50I... What? But I thought, how do we make white chalk, then?

06:54I need white dye, and I need dark grey dye to make the grey chalk.

07:00But I ain't got any white dye!

07:04That means we have to go exploring to find flowers.

07:09Let me just take a quick, quick little peeky look, see?

07:13Um, I'm not seeing any flowers.

07:17Oh, but I bet there's flowers over here.

07:23Let's, uh...

07:25Let's fly on over and steal us a couple flowers real quick.

07:29Make some dye, and...

07:32All this to show that you can actually make a full four-way intersection

07:36out of the chalk.

07:39What an absolute waste of your time.

07:43Oh, can I make... I can't. I don't even know what I'm asking.

07:47Okay, we got our flowers. Let's head back.

07:51We also got some random seeds. I don't need those, I will throw those.

07:55And let the fishies eat them.

07:57I hope you choke.

07:59There are no fishes, and the fish won't choke on the seeds.

08:14Alright, we got 12 pieces of chalk. Let's finish this.

08:18Alright, so we need a four-way, full-on T-intersection.

08:23It's not called a T-intersection. What is that called when it's a four-way?

08:27An X-intersection? A plus sign intersection?

08:31I think it's just called an intersection.

08:33And then you have a T, when there's only three.

08:35But I think when there's four, it's actually less words.

08:38Very interesting.

08:39Anyways, here is our beautiful masterpiece.

08:59Oh, one thing I did want to point out, because I was going to try this

09:03when I was setting up, and I thought I can't.

09:05You can't put the chalk onto walls.

09:10It only works on the floor.

09:12So yeah, you get fun things like this because these nodes exist.

09:19So it places there, but these, not so much.

09:24And then on top of the buttons, I can technically put chalk.

09:27That'll pull off a piece on the wall, but that's fine.

09:32Yeah, so no graffiti on the walls here.

09:36Sorry, kids.

09:38I guess the rail-like draw type only lets you put it on the floor, not on walls.

09:43So the more you know, right?

09:46Anyways, that is going to do it, I think.
