00:00So we're here at Brown Hills Library and it's the Marvellous Makers Summer Reading Challenge, is that right Gilles?
00:06That's right, yes.
00:07So you're a librarian here.
00:08I am, yes.
00:09What's it all about then, just getting kids engaged in reading I guess?
00:12It is to make sure that children are still reading over the summer holidays.
00:19Yeah.
00:20And the challenge is to read six books and they get incentives along the way.
00:25Got you.
00:26And I think Rosie here is taking part.
00:28Can we have a look at your folder?
00:31I said they have their own little folder to fill in.
00:33Yes, they have a reading folder like this and it opens out and you put lots of different
00:39stickers on it.
00:40Great stuff.
00:41And you also get other incentives along the way.
00:45And if you manage to read six books, you get a medal and a certificate at the end.
00:51Wow, what do you think of that Rose?
00:53That sounds cool, doesn't it?
00:54We all like a medal and a certificate, eh?
00:56A lot of children like taking them to school to show the teachers.
01:00Yeah, they'll be very impressed.
01:02So they can see, look how much I've been reading this summer.
01:04So today you've had a little session, it's the library mouse.
01:07Called the library mouse.
01:08Hence the ears and we've even got a little craft mouse that people have been making.
01:13Fantastic.
01:14What are you going to call your mouse then Rose?
01:16Well I think it could be something like a butterfly.
01:21Oh, okay.
01:22Well that could be interesting.
01:24We'll call him Butterfly the Mouse.
01:28A flower.
01:29A flower.
01:30A flower's a nice name.
01:31I like that.
01:32Well your name's Rose, that's a flower.
01:34So I think we should go with flower.
01:36Flower the Mouse.
01:37The library mouse.
01:41I'm the wrong way round, I can't see it.
01:44Okay, where is it?
01:46So this is the library mouse.
01:48In a half-hidden hole where the wall met the floor,
01:53sat a dreamer called Quill with a pen in his paw.
01:59He lived in a beautiful building of books
02:05that shimmered up shelves and nestled in nooks.
02:12There he is.
02:16Do you think we've got a library mouse here?
02:19No.
02:20No.
02:21We might have.
02:23Carry on another page.
02:25I'll move the mouse there.
02:28Yeah.
02:30Each morning he crept from his home to behold
02:35the faces of children as stories were told.
