00:00So we've just unveiled a bench for Tina Boothroyd and had some lovely thoughts about her.
00:06We're here with her husband Paul and former mayor Hillary.
00:11Hillary Bills.
00:12So just tell us about Tina.
00:14Hillary, what role does she play in the community working for this charity here?
00:19Well, she's stuck up for everybody who's got a disability access issue in all shapes and forms.
00:24Whether you wanted to go swimming, whether you wanted to walk somewhere in your own home.
00:30Was it a disability access available?
00:33And she would just, she'd never give up.
00:35I think that's what I'd say back to you.
00:37She was a dog with a bone and she fought and fought.
00:40And I laughed at a bit.
00:40We've shared that she might have had a bit of bad language along the way.
00:44But she scared the living daylights out of the offices.
00:47She was a lady that got things done.
00:49Definitely.
00:50Yeah, yeah.
00:51I loved her.
00:52And Paul, she wasn't that old, was she then, when she's passed?
00:56She was 64.
00:57Yeah.
00:57Was it unexpected?
00:59Not really, no.
01:00She'd been ill for, oh, well, she had a stroke 20 odd years ago.
01:04Yeah.
01:04She had a second stroke shortly after that.
01:06And gradually her heart had been playing up and then she had kidney troubles.
01:11So although her death was unexpected, I think the illness had all caught up with her in the end.
01:17Yeah.
01:18She went in the hospital just before Christmas and by the end of January, so.
01:23Yeah.
01:23A big character, yeah?
01:25Yeah, she was, very much so, yeah.
01:27What does it mean to have this bench kind of put ear in her honour and know that she's,
01:32you know, touched so many lives, really?
01:34Well, I mean, Access in Dudley was her life, really.
01:36Yeah.
01:38Well, since she became really ill and more housebound, she dedicated everything to Access in Dudley,
01:44spent all the time working for them.
01:47So, yes, she was a big character.
01:50Well.
01:50As Hillary said, not only did she scare the death out of her officers, she scared the death
01:53out of me as well.
01:54Yeah, yeah.
01:55Big shoes to fill, though, Hillary, you know what I mean?
01:57Who's going to, you know, so she'll be very much missed in the community.
02:00Well, there's some talented people here who have learnt from Tina.
02:04Ah, yeah.
02:04Who are carrying on.
02:05Yeah, yeah.
02:06The charity at the moment is safe financially.
02:08Yeah.
02:08So that'll be fine.
02:09So her legacy lives on.
02:11Definitely.
02:11Great stuff.
02:12Well, thank you guys and rest in peace, Tina Boothroyd.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Yeah.
02:17Well, Tina.
