00:00Okay, so we've got Adrian, Dawn and Richard here in Rushwater, close in Wambourne.
00:04Just explain the problem, guys. What's going on with the flooding here?
00:09So we've got the highway strains, just the two here.
00:14That runs off into our brook.
00:17Unfortunately, this beautiful tree loves water.
00:20So it floods, it regularly floods the drives and causes all sorts of issues, including to property.
00:27We keep reporting it to the council, the council keep closing the reports without sending anyone out.
00:34And it's been a problem now for four or five years.
00:37I've lived to five years, and as you can see, the little wall, the little barrier.
00:42And you've had to have that built yourself, haven't you, Dawn? Is that right?
00:45I've had to have a new carpet because of the mud carrying all up the stairs.
00:50And it hasn't really solved the problem, has it?
00:52No.
00:52We've been, for the last year, because of all the silt coming up out of the drains,
00:57it's making the car park treacherous to walk on.
01:01Yeah.
01:01I've had a couple of complaints from delivery men who've slipped on it as well,
01:05because as you can see, the moss is starting to fall now.
01:09Yeah, absolutely.
01:11I mean, obviously today it's not as high,
01:13but I've seen some of the video clips and the pictures that you've sent me,
01:16and it is awful.
01:17And so what have the council said about all this?
01:21Not much.
01:22Not much.
01:23No.
01:23So you report the issue, they close the issue without sending anyone out,
01:27and just say it could be part of routine maintenance.
01:29Right.
01:31So there are no plans at the moment to come out and...
01:33No response.
01:34No.
01:34Crikey.
01:35Despite the number of times we've reported it.
01:37I've personally reported it four or five times.
01:40Yeah.
01:41Aid has reported it as well.
01:43House councillors, early one in the year,
01:45they all sat there nodding their head,
01:47knew that there was a problem here,
01:49but obviously they're not interested.
01:51No.
01:51No.
01:52So what have they said?
01:53There's just no plans at all?
01:56I think it's just a waiting game.
01:57There's absolutely no plans to come and rectify the situation from emails.
02:02So what have they said the problem is,
02:04it's the root, isn't it, from the tree?
02:06You say it's the root from the tree that's blocking the drain.
02:08Leave.
02:08I'm not an expert.
02:09So the highway's drains here for the estate,
02:13then run into the brook, our local watercourse.
02:18And because the pipe is blocked,
02:20the rainwater from the estate,
02:22so several hundred houses,
02:23comes up here and floods this street.
02:27And yeah, we cannot get them to commit.
02:30No.
02:30So really it could take another how many years to rectify?
02:34Again, I'd like them to do something about it
02:37and we're prepared to do more to shame them into doing it.
