00:04I just like that I'm unapologetically me.

00:06I have power over what I look like.

00:08Today, I'm covering up all my tattoos

00:10and then we're gonna reveal it to my mum.

00:12Let's go see the mirror.

00:15I feel ugly.

00:16I think my mum's gonna freak out when she sees me.

00:18I've been thinking, am I gonna recognize her?

00:28My name's Casey.

00:29I've been tattooed for the past 12 years.

00:32I think probably about 80% of my body is covered in tattoos.

00:37The first tattoo I got, I was 14 years old.

00:41It's my star signed Aries.

00:43Am I addicted?

00:45I wouldn't say I'm an addict,

00:47but definitely tattooing helped me

00:50to become more of my own person.

00:54It's been my outlet and helped me to express myself

00:57and I guess find my own defining place in society.

01:02Today is really exciting.

01:04We've got a makeup artist coming

01:06and she's gonna cover my whole body in makeup

01:08so that I'm completely clear skinned.

01:12Then we're gonna reveal it to my mum

01:13who hasn't seen me in a very long time as well.

01:18I'm definitely excited to see myself.

01:19It's been a long 12 years.

01:22I think when people see me,

01:24a lot of the time what I get told is,

01:26oh, you're a beautiful girl,

01:28why have you done that to your face?

01:30Is she a criminal or is she affiliated with a gang?

01:33Is she a bad person?

01:35You just gotta take it with a grain of salt sometimes.

01:38Okay, Casey, let's get started.

01:40So we do the pink first

01:42and the pink cancels out the navy blue.

01:51My Aries sister.

01:52We'll get rid of our little ram sign.

01:55It's a psychological journey that you're going on

01:58where erasing your visual identity

02:00is something that you've had for a really long time.

02:08You've had quite a journey, haven't you, with the tattoos?

02:10You've had them be celebrated

02:13and then you've had them not be celebrated,

02:14which is a really big trip

02:16and a big psychological journey to go on.

02:18To have people judge you because of how you look.

02:21But look at you, you're shiny

02:23and you're coming out the other side

02:25and you're making good choices for you.

02:27I'm actually getting all my face tattoos lasered off.

02:30They've been the real marker

02:32in what I need to change to get to where I'm now going.

02:36So do you want to work with children?

02:38And having the ink on your face,

02:39you feel that that's maybe getting in your way.

02:42It's just a new journey, a new path

02:44and it's just something I've got to do.

02:47I think that's a thing with growing older.

02:49Your mind changes, your goals change.

02:52That's definitely been something

02:54that's made me want to go through this experience.

03:00Hopefully when they see my face today

03:02covered up with no tattoos,

03:04it helps sort of reinforce the backbone of the reason

03:09why I'm going through the laser and going through the pain.

03:13I do actually feel naked now.

03:19It's almost time for the big reveal.

03:20I'm really nervous.

03:23But I'm excited and I'm really nervous.

03:44I feel ugly.

03:46I feel really self-conscious again.

03:49I think it's just because it doesn't feel like me.

03:52I don't even remember what it's like.

03:54Like I remember, like I said, I feel like I'm the young me,

03:57but I still don't remember what it's like

04:00to not be the way I am.

04:02Well, this is what it's going to look like

04:03when you have all the ink removed off your face.

04:09It's growing on me.

04:12As I'm standing here and getting used to it,

04:14even with the rest of my body still covered,

04:16I think that people will look at me

04:17in a totally different light, actually.

04:21My mum loves who I am.

04:24And so I think she'll probably prefer who I am

04:26with my tattoos,

04:27but I think it'll probably be nice for her

04:29to maybe see her little girl again for a moment.

04:32Am I going to recognise her?

04:34I'm so used to her with her tattoos.

04:38I'm not really sure what my reaction is going to be,

04:41but I'm looking forward to it.

05:37and it's been pretty cool to see this transition,

05:41but I'm done.

05:44I want to get this off,

05:46and yeah, get back to the real me.
