Rain continues in the South as flash flood risk shifts to the Gulf Coast

After days of seemingly nonstop thunderstorms in the Southeast, the storm threat will be moving to the Gulf Coast this weekend.

00:00So overall, as we take a look at the risk of flash flooding for the next few days,

00:05the rain is going to begin to exit the Carolinas eventually.

00:08We're not fully there yet, but we're moving in the right direction,

00:11and other areas will continue to see the storms into the central Gulf Coast.

00:16So we are dealing with, again, a mixed bag here in the forecast,

00:19but the most persistent rain will be into Louisiana, far east Texas, southern Mississippi,

00:25and we're looking at the area around New Orleans tonight.

00:28More storms there and into Houma.

00:30A little break in the action tonight for Lafayette and Baton Rouge,

00:33but more storms to the west as well.

00:35And with that high humidity, you're not going to cool down too much at night.

00:38More storms tomorrow for the southeast.

00:40By Sunday, we do scour the rain away from the Carolinas,

00:43but thunderstorms will persist elsewhere,

00:46so we're looking forward to this wedge of dry air returning to areas east of the Appalachians.
