00:00According to Maraj, this country's leadership should take example from the strategy used
00:06in Jamaica to tackle crime.
00:08He says,
00:09Jamaica has found a way to unite the police service and the army to deal with criminals
00:14and the method works.
00:16However, he tells TV6,
00:18the joint patrols used in Trinidad and Tobago are simply not enough and greater collaboration
00:24between the two arms of the protective services is imperative if criminals are to be stopped.
00:30Maraj says he wants to see the National Security Minister succeed in dismantling crime for
00:36the betterment of the nation.
00:38But he tells us it is not working out that way.
00:41Is he inspiring the police with any new ideas, any strategic thinking and so on?
00:47Have you thought, for example, of what I said about what's happening in Jamaica or anything
00:54along that line?
00:55I don't get that impression.
00:57He's proceeding along a path that, you know, is, you know, has not has not produced any
01:06any result.
01:07The high is really should go.
01:10While addressing media on Monday, the minister said while he could not read himself, he was
01:15satisfied that he gives his mind, time, heart and soul to his work proudly and confidently.
01:22However, Maraj is not convinced that that is enough.
01:26Well, Mr. Hines is entitled to feel proud of his work and that he gave his heart and
01:31his mind and all of that into the work.
01:34But the fact of the matter is all of his heart and his mind and his effort and so on have
01:39not sufficed.
01:40It has not sufficed at all to deal with the situation.
01:44And therefore, there's a clear inadequacy in his leadership that is evident.
01:52The political commentator further notes the state of disarray in which the society exists,
01:58adding that that is part of the problem.
02:01We are talking about a social decay that is manifesting itself in various ways.
02:05Domestic violence, teenage pregnancies, school, school, hooliganism, you know, domestic violence
02:13as I said, school, hooliganism and, you know, general juvenile delinquency, some of the
02:22cultural degradation as well.
02:26All of that pulled together creates a society that is incubating crime.
02:32He also notes the situation with the SSE and the prime minister, stating an audit found
02:38that the agency was being run under the influence of a religious cult comprising highly trained
02:44military operators armed to the teeth with the latest weaponry on a treasonous mission
02:50to overthrow the government.
02:52Miraj says the public should not lose sight of this and it seems very dangerous.
02:57The prime minister made a statement, a strong statement in the parliament on the issue.
03:04I await, we await, we all await the results of the evidence of the follow-up because these people
03:12have been on a treasonous mission against the state. Surely the law has to come in here.
