00:00We start off in Trent Bridge where the West Indies had their best day of the tour against
00:17England on day two of the second test.
00:19Despite facing a daunting target of 416, the Caribbean men contrived to score more runs
00:25at 351 for five than they did in the entire first test.
00:30Dominican pair of Athenaze and Hodge would add 175, with Hodge becoming the first Dominican
00:36to score Test 10.
00:37He top scored with 120 before Jason Holder and Joshua De Silva remained unbeaten, taking
00:43the Windies to within 65 runs of the host.
00:47After a less than stellar batting display at Lord's, the Windies were looking to prove
00:51their value.
00:52And Craig Brathwaite and Mikhail Lui would slowly build some confidence.
01:02However, just after going past the 50 stand, England would strike.
01:14First Test destroyer Gus Atkinson would get the captain to gift away his wicket just short
01:19of his half century.
01:20And the English felt the better of the two at lunch when Shoaib Bashir snatched his second
01:25with the Windies on easy at 89 for three.
01:28But Alec Athenaze and Kavim Hodge clearly had a good lunch.
01:38The pair of Dominicans would establish control and confidence with an impressive stand.
01:44The two youngsters would raise half centuries as they attacked the English.
02:00Windies self-confidence elevated as the pair accumulated a stand of 175 runs.
02:08But that's where it would end with Athenaze's dismissal on 82.
02:13However Hodge would be the first Dominican to create Test history.
02:31And he would look very assured even after reaching triple figures.
02:40Unfortunately his brilliant knock would end following a review when on 120.
03:03Jason Holder grafted along as he and Joshua De Silva looked to reduce the deficit even
03:08more.
03:12And they would do an effective job remaining unbeaten with Holder on 23 and De Silva 32.
03:18Their partnership of 46 reducing England's lead to 65 at stumps but also proving the
03:23Windies are better than at Lords.
03:27Well after creating history becoming the first Dominican batsman to score a Test century
03:32for the West Indies, Kavim Hodge was naturally pleased and spoke about his understanding
03:37with countryman Alec Athenaze.
04:07And after facing an acid test from pacer Mark Wood, Hodge shared the lighter side of facing
04:26against such terrifying pace.
04:56I actually experienced that with facing guys like Mark Wood, it was tough but it was satisfying.
