00:00Excelling at club cricket is one thing, but earning a spot on the Caribbean Premier League team is a dream come true.
00:06Mikel Govia, who is the son of football legend Russell Latipi, is living the dream.
00:10Yes, I was shocked when I was drafted for the Senocha Kings in the CPL. I really didn't expect it to happen the way it did.
00:18So what is he looking forward to?
00:20What I'm looking forward to most in being a part of the CPL is just knowing the amount of knowledge and experience that I'll be around.
00:28My mindset is to go into the environment and be a sponge, so to say, in terms of soaking up as much as I possibly can.
00:35There are also other factors in terms of possibly getting called for Western Days and getting called for other franchise tournaments around the world.
00:45But I try to not think too far ahead. I kind of just want to deal with the task that I have in front of me already.
00:53I'm just really looking forward to being a part of the environment.
00:59He believes his time at Central Sports Cricket Club was key to his progress.
01:03I think what contributed most to my success at Central Sports was the environment.
01:08The vibe is very much of a family team.
01:12I think that just the belief that each and every player had in my ability.
01:21And, of course, more so our manager, Mr. Richard Ramkisson.
01:27He made it very clear to me that he really believes in me and believes in my ability.
01:33And he is backing me to do very well for Central Sports.
01:39And also the input and advice and just the experience of a lot of the senior players like Lendell Simmons and Imran Khan and Riyad Emre.
01:53These guys really imparted a lot of knowledge onto me.
01:56Look out for the all-rounder as he lines up for the St. Lucia Kings in the CPL.
