00:18Pittsburgh winning as a favorite they have been abysmal there this year now
00:22just 9 and 14 straight up just the third game for LA as an underdog and they
00:28falter 10 to 6 Donnie also gave you a Pittsburgh in the first five they did
00:32have that first five lead I believe seven to three by those five innings
00:36coming to a close yeah it wasn't a surprise that we had Pittsburgh there up
00:40at the end of five innings the surprise was they got those seven runs in the
00:42bottom of the second basically icing out that first five which was great and was
00:46one of those where it got a little bit tighter late in that baseball game but
00:49the Pirates were better all the way through and you take a look at Skeens on
00:52the mound who knows where he goes from here but it's certainly fun every single
00:55time he takes the mound a lot of K's and a lot of excitement that's what we
00:58love in baseball so we have a lot to get to now here in this opening hour of the
01:04early line on a Thursday on the opening night of the NBA Finals with some
01:08breaking news to the Association Skeens day number five for the Pittsburgh
01:13Pirates was another success Pittsburgh a favorite against the LA Dodgers which
01:19has not happened often the Dodgers just an underdog for the third time in 63
01:24games this season and the odds makers and mr. right side were correct Paul
01:30Skeens dealt once again yesterday DRS and now in his five career Major League
01:35Baseball starts Skeens is a perfect 3-0 the Pirates have won four of his five
01:41starts he is a 3-0 ERA in 27 innings of work in 38 total K's in only five outings
01:50in fact in four of the five each game that Pittsburgh has won with Skeens
01:55getting the start he is recorded at least seven strikeouts as we saw
02:00yesterday 8 K's against the LA Dodgers Paul Skeens the number one overall pick
02:05of this past summer's draft in 2023 is every bit the real deal yeah he's a
02:12really good pitcher and also yet to keep in mind to power arm there most of the
02:16teams haven't seen him just yet and yesterday look he did have success five
02:19innings pitch three earned runs but that's not as if we're talking about a
02:22guy that's going into the eighth inning here only giving up one hit to the
02:25Dodgers lineup who actually didn't even score the night before it's a solid
02:28outing and something that you can build on I'm interesting to see once the other
02:32teams do get a look at him what that adjustment period is going to be because
02:35the one thing we do understand is he's going to get a lot of strikeouts no
02:38doubt about it and also like Pittsburgh who really babied him in the minor
02:41leagues not letting him pitch all that much letting him pitch into the 90s
02:44right away 90 pitches I should say into his career but also handicapping the
02:48game yesterday you sort of saw this playing out you know he's gonna be
02:51throw between 90 100 pitches but typical the strikeout guy you're going
02:55to throw those pitches a lot earlier like it's very few innings Paul schemes
02:58is gonna have like you know nine pitches or six pitches or five pitches here
03:01because he's looking to make contact he's a strikeout guy so that left the
03:04sixth seventh eighth and ninth open which is what I want to avoid but also
03:08having said that he got to a seven to nothing lead you're supposed to win the
03:11game and the first five innings with relative ease but let's just say Paxton
03:15wasn't on the mound yesterday who knows the Dodgers scoring six runs they
03:18probably end up winning that game over the Pirates but he didn't and the
03:21Pirates were supposed to hit and they did and schemes pitch fairly well
03:24against one of the better lineups in Major League Baseball yeah he pits very
03:28very well I would say in great moments yesterday the battle was show hey Otani
03:32and show Hayes first at-bat striking him out blowing him away with three
03:37straight pitches that were north of a hundred miles per hour for Otani to
03:41recollect in the third inning a deep shot to straightaway center for Otani
03:47and a home run but ultimately Pittsburgh gets the better of LA the
03:51Pirates got the better of the starter yesterday for the Dodgers in James
03:55Paxton now as we look at the National League Rookie of the Year odds show to
04:00Iminaga has also been incredible this year for Chicago and remains the
04:05favorite Johnny do you think there will be a time throughout this Major League
04:08Baseball season that schemes overtakes Iminaga to be that favorite to win NL
04:13Rookie of the Year I do I actually do because the one thing we know what
04:17Imanaga yes he's a very good pitcher but we like electric stuff here and what

04:50just say he runs that number to 7 and 0 with the average strikeout margin of
04:53between 8 to 11 per game he's gonna close that gap on Imanaga and a lot of
04:58people just say they like the sizzle to go along with the steak as I like to say
05:02and gives you that there is a lot more notoriety fair or unfair on Paul schemes
05:07because of maybe who he is in a relationship with just being the number
05:12one overall pick with absolutely electric stuff and these are narrative

06:04sweep with a 2-0 win in the finale yeah Castellanos moves up into that
06:08two-hole because JT Ramuto wasn't available in that lineup 214 now in the
06:12season which isn't great and only one hit yesterday but it was the biggest hit
06:16of the game so if you're gonna be on that Kyle Schwarber plan like yeah I'll
06:19hit around 200 but get some clutch hits in here that's what Kiss the Castellanos
06:22did yesterday but also let's keep in mind the embarrassment of riches that
06:25the Philadelphia Phillies have Wheeler no and all it goes out seven innings
06:28pitch nowhere and runs five K's no walks you know right now at 2.77 and even that
06:33bullpen which is smoking hot right now Hoffman on the season comes in
06:36yesterday throws one inning he's at a point nine eight era everything is
06:41clicking for the Phillies and the sign of a really good baseball team is what
06:44do we usually think of the Phillies when they play home in warm weather

08:13are looking at Aaron judge with a chance again to say this if Aaron judge hits
08:17300 on the season I can't imagine what his final tally is gonna be with RBI and
08:22also with home runs here because again we're just getting started in the summer
08:27months we're gonna get those hot temperatures in that small ballpark here
08:30I love everything the Yankees are doing and certainly I think they're far and
08:34away once again the best team in the American League a sign of the times
08:38perhaps for how great this season has been in the turnaround for Aaron judge
08:42in the last month he had one base knock yesterday in five RBI's a bases clearing
08:47triple midway through that baseball game but grounded out in the first recorded
08:52in RBI with the bases juiced he was walked and it led to an RBI as well the
08:59Yankees victorious nine to five longest active win streak currently in the bigs
09:03at seven straight victories now we go to Houston where the fork had been away for
09:09most of this week but Donnie has opened up the drawer and he's grabbing that
09:13finest silverware that he can find because the Cardinals avoid the sweep
09:17yesterday in H town against the Astros with a 4 to 2 victory for st. Louis
09:23really back-and-forth game each team scoring twice in the fifth inning but
09:28Nolan Arenado a solo shot in the sixth it was the insurance run that st. Louis
09:32needed the Cardinals avoid the sweep yeah Michael this was good six innings
09:36pitch to earned run yesterday only three K's did give up the two home runs but
09:39how about this six innings been 62 total pitches and they pulled him out of the
09:43game handed over to the bullpen which solidified the rest of that game but
09:47also st. Louis I do think they're eventually going to be a player in the
09:50Central Division I'm just done with the Houston Astros and also been sometimes
09:54you say who's coming back to your team midseason the Astros seem like they're
09:58losing guys on a day-to-day basis from the front end rotation and or players we
10:03know it doesn't end well just to get back to those old Madden terms just
10:06because you're injured in your starting lineup here for the Houston Astros
